LtCmdr Roget

Old Mission, New Injuries  SD 50301.26

The shuttle reverberated with another hit to the aft section.  "Get that cloak back up!" Margaux yelled, over the shower of sparks that flew from Precip's console.  "More power to the shields!" She gave a split second glance to Lt. Garnoopy, watching him furiously work to give her what she demanding.  The shuttle shook violently a second time.

"Commander, shields and weapons offline, impulse reactor one offline." Margaux wasn't sure who was giving her the grim list, but she never took her eyes off the fast approaching entrance of the Manticore shuttle bay. "Impulse reactor two at 10% power."

"Don't you lose that engine!  Helm is offline. Precip, contact the Manticore see if they can lock on a tractor beam, and get them to open those doors!"  Without a second thought, Margaux switched over to manual controls and prayed that the tractor beam would lock on, and fast.  They were coming in hot, even with engines off line, and they were coming in with a load of ordinance.  Her face was set in grim determination.  The flurry of activity behind her faded into the background and she struggled to keep the pitch and altitude stable.

"All hands, brace for impact!"  The sound of metal on metal made a sickening sound that vibrated through her bones.  The Griffin slammed into the barricades, spun around crashing into the Wyvern before coming to a stop.  The acrid smell of smoke and torn metal filling her nostrils.

She opened her eyes, blinking rapidly to clear the disorientation from her head.  She tried to take a deep breath and was rewarded with a stabbing pain that made her see a kaleidoscope of colors.  Almost instantly, she felt the rush of endorphins flood her bloodstream and the pain subsided.  Margaux gave a silent expression of thanks that her cranial implant was still functioning, and pulled herself into an upright position.

Her eyes took in the horror of the crash.  She could see the engineer, lying in a broken heap. She looked at the co-pilot seat for Precip, but he was not there Margaux struggled to stand and felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Slow down there," she looked up at Kyle, his face covered with lacerations.  "We're beaming you to sickbay."

Margaux was about to reply, but saw the look on Kyle's face made her think twice about arguing.  "I think," she said in a wavering voice, "the Commodore does not like me.  Every he sends me out, I come back like this.  You think it's a hint? She gave him a lopsided smile.

Kyle smiled and squeezed her shoulder again, "I think you're just looking for a way to spend some quality time with me.  I'll see you in sickbay." Margaux nodded, her breath becoming shallow and rapid.  She could feel the haze of unconsciousness on the fringes of her mind.

"Hey?! Are you okay?"  She forced her eyes open wide, thinking that the voice was speaking to her, but saw instead that it was one of her security members kneeling over the Lt. Garnoopy. "Hey! Garn!"  She watched as he slapped the Lieutenant in the face and tried to call out, but her voice failed her.

She watched, her mind memorizing every detail as the transporter beam shimmered through her body, taking her to sickbay.
