I have to say, I'm a sucker for the origional. ;)

 

Why? It was approached from an asthetic angle with virtually no consideratoin to function, lol. There's no mechanics to get in the way, no bulky functional whojiggies... Aerodynics? Hey, it's SPACE, there is no air!

 

Although I agree with Fred that the refit was cool, as was A, and if I were to go look at some pics to refresh my memory, I might pick the refit. In either case, both are close enough to the original shape of the 1701 (and were better modeled, of course).

 

The later ones in my opinion replaced artistic with "cool." Give me art.

 

Although none of the above takes into consideration of the INside of these babies. Give me the luxury liner. Give me unlimited holodeck time. Give me restaruants, food processors, and a bar. Give me big windows and cool lighting in my quarters, a living room with a couch, and did I mention the food processor??

I will most definitely have to say the D, primarily because of the fact that whenever I sim I cannot picture any other ship. I try, I really, really try, but it all comes out beige and bright ^.^

And when did the original Enterprise (1701, not NX-01) ever go into an atmosphere?? The closest they got was when they tried to drop off the fighter pilot to his plane before sling-shotting around the sun. Besides that, they never saw any hint of air.

I beg to differ! We never see the Enterprise having landed...it simply has its saucer section docked with a flat platform.

It didn't land, it kinda crashed! Besides, when you start talking V'Ger, all "reality" is bent or broken. It can do whatever it wants and create whatever it wants - I think it's the gold LP, myself.

Well I am almost with john Boy on this one. The "All Good Things" Galaxy-X class was awsome. However...since thats not an option, I am gonna have to go with the Enterprise-B. Always been a softie for the Excelsior class ;)

As to the question, it's very difficult to try to compare ships of different eras, but I chose the Sovereign Class, NCC-1701-E, primarily because, more than any other Starship Enterprise, it had a distinct advantage in performance over other vessels, not just in the Federation but other fleets as well.

I have to with the original, 1701. After all, for those of us that grew up watching TOS, either first-run or syndication before the movies, those old cardboard and plywood sets hold a special place in our hearts. And 1701-A? All she is is the same hull, just with a new number to replace her predecessor.
