What WAS that smell??

 

Ki'rok tried to meditate...it had been awhile since he had the opportunity. But the smell was atrocious. The Raknor IV was NOT the Republic. Still, aside from the stench of stale...Gagk?...it was getting them where they needed to be. Now it was simply a matter of when. The timing, again, was critical to the success of the mission. His supervisor had reminded everyone to avoid there counterparts. He thought back to questioning Captain Velos about the same thing and everyone poking fun at him. He had to realize that what was said was not as important necessarily as who said it.

 

But this was getting him nowhere. They were hours away from DS9 and he needed to use this time wisely...either prepare mentally for the task at hand or try to rest...physically. He looked over at the Admiral...twitching in fitful, drug induced sleep. There were plenty aspects of the mission that needed analyzing. But, after the turmoil of the previous days...he needed rest, as well. Especially with the fate of the entire Federation just a few hours away. This was truly the Eye of the storm. This moment of peace was fleeting and only a fool would fail to take advantage of it.

 

"I am no fool..." Ki'rok said...to noone inparticular. He lay his head back against the tiny seat...closed his eyes...and focused on breathing in through his mouth...
