Lt.(jg) Arphazad Lo'Ami's Personal Log

=/\= Personal Log of Lt.(jg) Arphazad Lo'Ami =/\=

::Begin Recording::

:: recording from a science lab, under a machine with a toolkit and tricorder by his side ::

:: in his hand is a repair tool, its beam heading upwards into an unseen machine ::

Personal Log, Stardate 10301.26;

Just as suddenly as they had disappeared, the twelve missing crew, Captain Moose included, have been returned.  It is likely they had been long-range transported by as-yet unknown Vogart technology directly from Arcadia to a nearby class M planet.  All the crew members seem to have been affected quite negatively by the trip, with the Captain barely able to hold himself up long enough to give what we think was an order to set course for the planet.

:: sets down the tool, and picks up another, begins touching sets of points on the unseen apparatus with the tool; the device sets off a few beeps after each touch::

The planet was initially detected as an unremarkable world of possible interest only to a botanist.  Our latest scans indicate a small settlement with humanoid lifesigns and another twelve unknown beings whom we assume to be Vogarts.  An unnatural amount of radioactive debris has also been detected on the planet, suggesting that it has either survived a nuclear war or served as a dumping ground for the wastes of old-style fission reactors.  From initial scans, the Vogarts seem to have a technological advantage of many centuries over the planet's humanoid inhabitants.

:: slides out from under the table, grabs the tricorder, and stands up ::

:: begins scanning the now-visible apparatus, one of those big, complicated-looking machines ::

Arcadia is now on a parallel course with the much larger Vogart ship, heading to the planet.  There are still many unanswered questions regarding our encounter with the Vogarts.  Firstly, why are there two different groups aboard the Vogart ship: the one thousand easily detectable life-forms, and the ten thousand weaker lifesigns, only detectable when their shields are down?

:: takes a look at the tricorder ::

:: mumbles :: frak, I've tried everything... the focal center must still be out of alignment...

:: starts tapping on a nearby console across from the apparatus setup ::

:: a set of red lights appear next to the console ::

:: continues talking to the log... ::

At first, I had assumed that the first thousand were the ship's crew complement, and the others in some kind of suspended animation.  But, then, when the Vogarts sent twelve of their crew to communicate with our officers on the planet, they chose from among the ones with the weaker lifeigns... why?  Or, did they wake up key figures in order to contact us?  Secondly, what are the Vogarts intentions on this planet?  And, finally, why have they gotten us involved?

:: red lights next to the console begin to turn yellow and green ::

:: stops tapping on the console, returns to the apparatus, and scans once again by tricorder ::

:: momentarily looks back at the log camera ::

Now, if only Commander Alces would remain uncouncious a little longer, I might be able to patch up the Vertiron spectroscopy microscope before he notices what I did to his new toy.
