Holomatch Clan

35 posts in this topic

Since there are topics about unofficial get togethers and all..this has been something I've thought about for the past few weeks since I got cable and could actually play EF1 online. But anyway, if anyone out there is interested in setting up an elite force holomatch clan, under the STSF banner, if the council is comfortable with that, or if they're not just a bunch of people from the group. email me, reply to the post, whatever.

I might do this...since I have a cable connection. But I haven't played EF in a looong time so I suppose I should practice up.

What about an Armada game? That would be fun, too since its the game I actually play sometimes :)

As you say, it's an unofficial get together, so have a great time playing - but STSF would not be sponsoring or giving "banner" to an EF1 clan. Thanks.

As much as I'd like in on this, FFP shooters no longer appeal to me.

I've been meaning to talk to you about that (ie sponsored guilds or clubs for stsf members), look for an email from me in the next week as things settle down. Ph34r ^.^

I don't have it, and I can never find Star Trek games in the stores :)

You can buy a pack now...I think Armada, Armada II, and EF1....for about 15 bucks.

I would also like to see STSF "clubs"...but I would prefer they be run by members, and any affiliation with STSF would most likely result in control of the club by a GM, thus control of it by the STSF council. That might make it less fun (too many rules and regulations and liability to worry about)...it should just be a group get-together online, like STSF members get together in Vegas. Talk about it on the boards but just don't imply that its official or endorsed. Though it confuses me why the Shoreleave 2004 post is pinned at the top of the boards. That really does imply endorsement ::shrug::.

They have been way overdone :) You get a game like Quake and a year later there's 30 games based on the same engine with different graphics!

Most other forums have various guilds on their boards...I think STSF would benefit from it, so I second your idea Feanor (even though I really dont know the details of what you mean  )

Anything happening with this?

well..I haven't seen a great deal of interest. I can't see putting the work into it if there isn't anyone that really wants to play. All interested parties should email me at [email protected]. Then we can work out just how we want to do this whole thing. If we have people who want to play I have the resources to set up a clan webpage and after we've played together for a little bit we can start looking at taking on other clans.

I'm sure there are stores out there that still have copies of EF1 and its expansion pack, in fact just before christmas I saw it being sold that way as a bundle in a GameStop, along side several other Trek games, like Armada. Otherwise Ebay, or just google it, the game can still be found online. Same goes for pretty much every other trek game too : ) Just don't steal them off the net..thats wrong. very wrong.

If you really want one you could learn to make skins for the game and create one <_<

But don't the skins only allow you to "paint" an existing avatar? Or can you tweak the 3-D of it, too?

::doesn't play EF1, but will probably get roped into it this summer:: ;)

I loved Elite Force 2, it was fantastic, except for one thing, the one thing that plagues all the trek games so far. NO CHARACTER BUILDING!!!! There is so little real interaction between the team-members or character development for that matter which is a real shame because i thought it was the people that Trek was all about. I want a Trek game that will build on that more...

...Also having a game that not only lets you go ANYWHERE in the ship but let's you take part in ship to ship combat would also be cool. Sort of like if bridge commander and elite force 2 had a lovechild with a lot of personality and story to it.

You know what would be cool, an online game which is like simming except you are controlling a real character <_<

EXACTLY!

And if it were to be multiplayer w/ voice chat it could be used for simming!!! And editable skins!!!!!! And real injuries and recovery times!!!! And even costomizable story lines for sim GMs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the text-based roleplaying. It allows limitless imagination and creativity...you can come up with subplots on the spot instead of having to create the features for them ahead of time.

Hey there,

Regretfully, Elite Force 2 just never took off. The game featured a lot of improvements over EF1, but for some reason the public just didn't take onto it.

At present, I don't believe anyone has an active Star Trek computer game license. Activision cancelled their contract with Paramount and has actually started legal action against them for items dealing with Star Trek: Nemesis. Specifically, seems Paramount did not give them access to Nemesis material before the movie's release...thus preventing them from even contemplating developing a game around the film. I believe they had planned to make a followup to the movie dealing with either the Enterprise or the Titan.

So, we may be stuck for awhile with the games that are out there. I do have to agree with some that the next major Trek computer incarnation should be within the massive multiplayer arena. Such an item would probably be quite popular. <_<
