We arn't trying to grow and make any group other than being members of STSF. Its just we like to sim and we found a place to do it at and let others join that like to sim as well and maybe just maybe if the if STSF personel sees that we can have good attendence they may speed up the process of making a earlier gaming time for us easterners.

::pulls out broken record and starts it to play yet again::

I'm very glad that you've found a place where you like to sim, we welcome everyone. However, there is nothing about these group meetings late in the afternoon that will "speed up the process" for earlier games for Easterners. I am an Easterner, as are many of the GMs. We are also Easterners with jobs and {gasp} non-STSF responsibilities that keep us from having regular free time that early in the day.

Am I saying that there will NEVER be a 5:00 PM ET sim? Anything is possible.

Is there anything in discussion or the planning stages to have one this early? No.

(Am I starting to sound like Donald Rumsfeld at a Pentagon briefing? You bet!)

My schedule doesn't allow me to participate in these unofficial sims, but here's my $0.02 anyway.

For a sim to be fun rather than confusing you do need a certain amount of structure. If the best way to have that structure is with what you are calling an MG then so be it. However, that doesn't mean you have to have the same MG every time. You can rotate them, take volunteers on the spot, or whatever.

Well the way we do it is the people with some experience, some meaning at least graduated the STSF academies, are the ones who are in charge.

We have asked though and again now if you want to become a MG pm me Tovan or Vosh/ki'rok if you want to help out.

Thank you

Cheatle

The way I meant what I said is that if people are willing to come this early they will probly come to a early sim as well i.e. 7Pm to 9Pm.

yes you do sound like Rumsfeld.

Ladies and Gentlemen of STSF...

I believe we are all saying the same things from different perspectives. These unofficial sims are a non-issue. They are nothing more than convenient practice. (Convenient for me, at least.) As a grown up Easterner..I , too have responsibilities and occasional time conflicts. We are not forming some elite club within the confines of STSF. However, in any undertaking..there are rules and codes of conduct..the MGs are simply there to drive the story and help cadets and other players with concerns. Hopefully, individuals not familiar with STSF will try it..and LIKE it. Then attend regular academies, and go on to have long successful advanced sim careers. Listen...I understand the work all of you have put into this endeavor. You have every right to be proud..as well as protective of it. I think it is an awesome forum..obviously

I think there may be some confusion on the ultimate goal of these sims..so I shall attempt to clarify. As far as Tovan and I are concerned...these sims are a way to get more convenient sim time whilst helping others improve their simming skills as well. An official earlier sim is nowhere on the radar at this point..and given our sporatic attendance...shouldn't be. If that situation changes..I'll be sure to let the powers that be know.

I would request one thing from Web, A-9, Fred and the rest of the GMs...advice. I am trying my best to make these sims fun, exciting, and educational (gasp). But, my best is...well........MY best. It could be better. And we dont EVEN want to talk about the Vulcan with the nametags. We want to make sure we dont confuse potential/current cadets on anything. Instead..keep everything up to STSF code. As I stated, this is not some Maquis movement...just an attempt and opportunity to help make STSF a better place.

Thank au

Yeah, we try to make the plot lines fun even with 4 -5 people. We're not really upsit by this because, for me it kills time (since i got oodles of it during the Afternoon), and for others its fun, attendence is not menditory, its pure fun. But as much as fun goes, order still must be maintained. For GMs do know that some of their sims had alot of stray ideas. Food for thought

Wouldnt it be possible to run your unofficial sims in the chat lobby rather than 1 of the 2 rooms? That way you avoid all schedule conflicts ;)

Our sims are at 5pm EST in the holodeck..so there are no schedule conflicts with STSF. I was referring to real world junk... ;)

As far as the lobby, it would be rather hectic and have a LOT of distractions to take away from the sim.

What we really need is .....PEOPLE. I hd hoped that attendance would increase by now. WE can run a sim with four or more..but like today..there were only three :D

But...we will continue to meet..even if most sims are starting closer to 5:30. Hopefully school letting out will improve participation.

I'm a new member, Saek, but I fully intend to participate in your 5 PM sims, being an easterner and all. School letting out is a big help, because of course that means no more late night studies interfering. More long-term however: school will eventually reconvene. And then . . . .
