Why do people do that?

Just do what I do and it'll save you loads of shopping time. Go to the register with a candy bar, then when someone with a full basket loads up behind you, pull the bar away and say "yup all thats mine"

5 times out of 6 the customer behind wont say a word!

cool ^_^ i'll try that tomorrow hehe

Of course my favorite is when I approach the counter with a basket full of cold medicine, sneezing and coughing all the way, and the clerk asks "How are you today?"

Alright, I dont know if you knew this or not, but I got fired from McDonalds...something about playing a broom stick like a guitar, or something...Anyways, I now work at the local grocery store, since we're bashing things there, he's one...

I was baging groceries and stuff, it was about 90 degrees out so every thing was freaking hot. Hence forth, all the frozen stuff, milk, and like was would start to condensate.

The woman who's groceries I was baging, walked up to me as a put her milk in the cart, she looked at the jug, felt it, and said to me. "Take this back, this milk is leaking."

I kindly responded. "No ma'am, thats just the condesation"

She got angry. "Just take it back!"

So, I grabbed the milk and walked back to the cooler. I myself was now rather mad, so I walked half way to the cooler, stoped, count to fifteen, turned around, and gave her the same milk from before. She got angry again, but she finally understood.

A couple of days latter, there wasnt really any thing to do, so my and my manager buddy were resting in the managers office with the A/C on, watching old security cammera tapes. He saw the little scene, laughed so hard that he fell off his chair.

A couple days after that, me and another manager watch the tape of the other guy falling off the chair, and had a good laugh.

Funny eh?

ROTFLMAO!! Travis, that is an excellent story! I'm glad your managers were good sports about the whole thing. Now I have one of my own.

When I was in college I worked in an on-campus coffee house and espresso bar, kinda like Starbucks although Starbucks wasn't as big back then.

Used espresso grounds tend to harden very fast, and if you empty it just right it forms something best described as an "espresso ground cookie" We were bored on a particularly slow afternoon so I put a bunch of these cookies out by the register as a joke - and forgot about them.

Normally we put chocolate-covered espresso beans by the register for the customers, so when a customer asked "Can I have one of those?" out of habit I said "Help yourself." The next thing I saw was the customer (who thankfully was a friend of mine) with a mouthful of used espresso grounds!

The only thing that kept me from being fired on the spot was the General Manager laughing his ass off!

one day she asked: "why don't you put some sugar and milk? the school isn't THAT dirty you know..."

I said "I drink coffee raw!"

and she stared and i laughed my head off ... nearly spilling my precious coffee mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..
