Its interesting how Brannon and Braga also mentioned that they could possibly ditch Enterprise to go work on their own series.

Doesn't sound like they're loyal to the franchise. Maybe that's the problem.

Hey there,

I personally think no new feature film should be produced until a solid two years after the last series is out of production. Need to give people time to cope with what we have as far as Trek and appreciate what's there.

It sounds to me like Berman is just trying to milk as much as he can out of the franchise before dumping it and moving to his own stuff.

Its sad , but I believe our aquatic friend is on to something....*sigh*

Sell-outs! Well, Enterprise has been better..perhaps they have been less involved already... :)

Regarding Enterprise:

I am very happy that they did not cancel Enterprise. I think every series has always had a rough start because people have to adapt to the new charectors and storyline. Once the show gets seasoned, which I believe Enterprise has made it to that point, the storyline gets even better and the actors start syching up to eachother. This makes for an excellent combination making it exciting for them, for us, and the show then can reflect its true color.

Amen man, amen. I was kinda surprised they'd be maing an Enterprise movie, seeing that it's not that popular right now.. still though, might wanna see it to see what it's like. I imagine it'll have something to do with the Romulan/Earth war in 2156? At least, that's my best guess..

Hey there,

See, that's my point: You can appreciate the fact there is Star Trek. The Star Trek fan base has become a bunch of spoiled little brats. People need to go back and remember that for a solid ten years, there was no new Star Trek. It took over fifteen years before there was a new Star Trek on the TV.

You don't think Enterprise is the best Trek? That's fine, but it is Star Trek. That, alone, right there, is something to be appreciative of.

You don't know what you have until you lose it. Well, I think Trek fans need to lose it for awhile and come to grips/realize what they really have.

I really don't consider "mainstream" fans when I think of how successful a Trek movie is going to be.

Right now there's just too much Trek out there. Paramount has been milking it to death. I think people really are just getting sick of it...because it's just plain too much.

If there were movies that were far in between, people would take more interest because it was something new. But Star Trek has just become the same-old-same.

I don't think that as fans we should support bad trek just because its trek. Hell its hardly even star trek, the only way it can be taken as a series is to assume that its a branch universe caused when the E shot down that borg sphere over earth in first contact.

Every star trek series starts out with potential, TNG, DS9 (in my opinion obviously) have realized that potential...Voyager had a good solid chance at it and in some respects suceeded, but ultimately failed, Enterprise is crap, and just because its the only new stuff out there dosen't mean I'm going to happily appreciate it. Call it spoiled if you want, I don't care. I don't go out and buy crappy cookies just to have cookies either. I could happily live without a new trek series for a few years, or ten years or for the rest of my life if thats what it means to have quality someday.

To be perfectly brutally honest I'd rather see a new B5 series spin off, or a series spun off of the Battlestar Galactica "miniseries"

I'm ecstatic about the new season of StarGate and its spin off series StarGate Atlantis. There is GOOD sci-fi out there to watch and play with, why do we have to settle for Enterprise just because they stuck startrek in the title?

Heck, they didn't even stick Star Trek in the title until recently.

If I may extend that metaphor a little... :)

TNG/DS9 (sometimes) Star Trek is like a really good cookie you get at the bakery. But then the bakery goes out of business, so you can't get that really good cookie any more. There's a similar cookie you can get at the grocery store (VOY/ENT) but cookies that come in those plastic little tray things wrapped in paper bags are really no match for fresh cookies you get out of the oven. But, lo and behold, you know how to bake. You buy a bunch of ingredients and take them home and start baking. Some of the cookies come out like crap, but some of the cookies are really good; they aren't the same as the cookies from the bakery, but you like them just the same. Now, what are the homemade cookies? Simming.

Yeah, we got crap right now. And yeah, we as Star Trek fans shouldn't have to appreciate it simply because it is Star Trek. Would you really feel comfortable saying something like that to a Star Wars fan who's had to put up with JarJar Binks? You'd get your hand chopped off with a lightsaber faster than Luke did.

We know what has made good Trek in the past, and we reproduce it here. As just about everyone here has been saying, give the shows and movies a rest. We don't need no stinking store-bought cookies. We're having enough fun in the kitchen on our own, thanks :D

::drool:: Star Gate would be the Mint Milanos of the current sci-fi universe, considering that the bakery has closed and everything. Mint Milanos are the best, man

1) Everyone seems to say DS9 was the last best Trek. Well I disagree. DS9 was great until they turned it into one long soap opera. Then they carried the soap-opera mentality over to ENT. In short, I stopped watching DS9 at the end because it was lousy Trek.

2) Marris has gotten her hand stuck in the cookie jar way too many times.

3) ENT is failing because it has to climb mount everest to get the attention of hard-core Trek fans. We've had so much great material that its just very hard to top that. I personally don't watch ENT often because it doesn't involve things that are familiar to me in Trek. We've gone away from Klingons and Romulans. When we get back to there, I'll watch again...because it's just good entertainment.

4) ENT is canon, whether we like it or not. Just like TAS. It will be interesting to see if sims start to exclude ENT material as canon just because they don't like the show. Sure, it has contradictions...but so does Bush. That's life. ENT is here, enjoy it or not, but its part of the Trek universe now.

Well I believe that we need less Star Trek for a few years, we've all been over Trekked as I like to call it. There's been a Trek show on T.V for the last 15 years and we've had 5 trek movies over that time.

They need to take a few years off after Enterprise and get their thoughts together, before moving onto another series. I think a 5 year hiatus would be perfect for the genre, maybe even more if necessary.

The longer they make us wait, the more we'll want a Trek show back on the air.

And that is my two cents for the day ^_^

1) Actually, I'd say TNG was the last best Trek, but DS9 was okay. I, too, stopped watching toward the end, it got a little too silly in some parts for my taste.

2) It may have been in there too many times, but never stuck ^_^

3) I agree. This is exactly why Trek needs a rest of a decade or so. We can come up with our own good stuff in the meantime. Although, I think you're wrong in returning to the Romulans and the Klingons (at least the Klingons)...they'll mess up so much canon if they do so ^.^

4) Our canon is what we make it. I know a lot of folks don't consider ST V canon, primarily because it was so incredibly crappy. Others don't consider Nemesis canon, also because it was pretty crappy and flew in the face of what some folks considered established canon for the Romulans. When we sim, we have the luxury of picking and choosing what canon works for us, simply because we ourselves are not canon. Trek writers on ENT don't have that luxury, and this is why so many Trek fans are getting cheesed off at them. If ENT doesn't work for you, I say go ahead an ignore it. Just make sure the entire sim follows the same guidelines and you should be fine.
