Trek game I'm working on...

Well...if you really want to know...when you destroy the base it sets itself at a location of -99999 pixels on the x axis. Dont try flying way out there to find it because it moves with your ship, so you'll never get there.

The ships who have the enemy base selected as their 'target' will go out there to find it.

Hey, small problem (may be intentional) When you get a heavy load on the NX-Class..it won't go to warp anymore.

What do I do once my starbase is destroyed? My ship is still there, all alone . . .

Okay . . . and why do the ships I assign to my starbase have this obsessive behaviour of leaving my starbase and going up the map, utterly abandoning my starbase for any Romulans who may be around? Also, my starbase refuses to fire when I leave the construction menu open.

That second one might be intentional . . . but if the first one was intentional, then why assign ships at all if they're just going to fly away?

Because Starfleet decided not to use WWI(I) tactics. In WWI(I), countries would send fleets of ships, the middle ones being the cargo ships, outside being the fighters. When a ship was hit, they abandoned it to try to save the much-needed cargo.

When Rommies come near the fleet, some ships break off so you can continue and survive.

Or, when a Rommy attacks one ship, the others charge in to try to save their partner.

Why, with the fleet idea, after a Rommie is destroyed, they all flee away, I don't know.

Yes, but when I pass my mouse over a starship that I have not assigned as escort, it says it's protecting the base. Then it starts heading up the map, always in the same direction! What I'm saying is that it makes no sense, I might as well not assign any starships because they'll all turn tale and flee anyway. Cowards, all of them!

ARRGH! Darn you Vex, I thought I was through the woods, but then... I'll leave it for everyone to figure it out on there own. But I will tell everyone one thing:Be afraid, be very afraid.

Ehh, I think I'll go back to finish up the first Flash Trek.

EDIT: Woot! I finally beat the Romulan Version. Oh, btw, loved the ending.

If anyone wants to continue following this series of games I have posted a new message board here: http://flashtrek.proboards29.com/index.cgi

There's some beta testing open if you're interested in that.

I thought it would be nice to put up my own board so I'm not cramming STSF's boards full of comments about the games, hehe.

Any Star Wars fans? I'm making a mod of Romulan Wars called FlashWars based on Star Wars. Its the basic RomWars engine with some enhancements.

Here's a beta: http://www.fossan.us/other/beta/alpha544.html

What do you think? I think it needs more 'game' to it...right now its just collecting resources, building new ships, and blasting the bad guy.

Thoughts, opinions, criticism?

The interesting thing is how a one-man fighter can have a repair crew. And I don't think they called them phasers either.

There's still some left-over text from Rom Wars...where does it mention phasers? I'll have to change it (but could there be a secret ship that has phasers? hmm).

And yes they have repair teams! Remember r2d2 fixed the X-wing while it was in the middle of a battle :D

From a stationary position on the back of the ship. How the heck would that help repairing the hull?

And yes, I know, he did make some repairs to Amidala's ship, but you have to remember that that was a Royal spacecraft with a crew of R2 units. You think a common fighter pilot would have that? I doubt it.

Okay...I'm going to have a special version for you Vanroy that won't let you repair your ship if it becomes damaged :D

I remember once in some TV episode or movie someone debating who would win if you pitted Kirk's Enterprise against the Death Star. I think they agreed the Death Star would win. I wonder where that was from...

When I first read your post I thought you were creating a game in which you could have Star Trek batteling Star Wars, ah, the hybrid's never to be.

Ah, true.

Anyone playing it notice any jumpiness? Mine lags a little when I get 20 or so ships on the screen at once...but then again I'm running on a 400mhz machine. This a problem at 1ghz and such?

Still havent figured out how to stop the ships from spontaneously disappearing after extended gameplay...know why its happening, dont know how to fix it yet :P
