Its penegrin..the model was used for the maquis raiders and Chakotae's ship in the first ep. of VOY. It did do to warp...is it just me or does that defiant look semi-transparent?

 

Dont worry I'm adding an automatic save feature :( It'll be stored in your cookies so as long as you dont erase your cookies you can just load up the game and continue from where you left off.

LOL, Nem gets it right, thats how you would see a cloaked ship in these games. I tried it in the badlands but it kept damaging me lol. Cool autosave ^_^

I never was any good at these shoot 'em up games. I just keep getting creamed. I love the graphics, though, Vex. Kewl game.

I decided to put up another version. Im have troubles getting it to save but for the most part the programming is done. You can warp to the systems whos stats appear when you put your mouse over it.

 

I'm hoping you guys can find any bugs before I start building the whole universe...its easier to fix bugs when the game is small.

 

You can earn prestige by doing cargo runs and blowing up bad guys, and you can also liberate sectors if you happen to be able to kill enough of them. When you put your mouse over a sector name it has a number that shows its strength and you can keep an eye on that while you kill baddies. When its liberated, if you can do it seeing as how the game is kinda limited right now and you cant save, hehe, they'll build a nifty starbase.

 

Since your in a runabout the bad guys mostly ignore you unless you make them mad or annoy them. They'll either occupy planets or go fight other Fed ships. Its kinda sad when a defenseless Fed is calling for help and you cant do anything about it :) :)

 

Anyway enjoy and let me know if any bugs come up :)

 

Instruction sheet is not updated...but you might want to read the new intro text (theres some changes to the story at the bottom).

hm....Here are my cents.

 

1) it starts out nicely, but lags after, limiting turning and response time. Sometimes.

 

2) I went right on top of Ds9, and clicked dock, nothing happened but said "closer to station to dock.

 

3) Sometimes your hull goes to 100% for a runabout lol its weird. Its hard to find the right docking clamp.

 

4) after killing a baddie, if you killed it with phaser, the beam shots off to up left direction for no apparent reason.

 

5) Nice, torpedo impact.

 

6) new ships look good.

 

7) little ships avoid torpedoes better.

 

Overall, the game has greatly improved :) its funny when you're in a little runabout being chased by a galor heh heh. I give it a 9.3, good job Vex. Actually oops it takes money to fix the ship ooo so thats why i had no money lol.

Havent seen any lag myself...I dunno...you're not on a Pentium I are you? <g>

I see what you mean. Its just getting its messages mixed up I think. Its supposed to be saying that you're docked but without repairs. When you get damage it will let you dock. Or maybe its because you dont have enough prestige. I dunno I havent messed with the docking feature a whole lot just yet.

Yeah its an error in the docking button :) It'll be fixed next version.

Programming glitch...no idea how to fix it at the moment. Its because when you fire and the baddy is there, it aims at the baddy and sustains the shot, but if the baddy explodes and vanishes while the phaser beam is still going it wonders where its supposed to fire at and so it defaults to zero (ie the upper left corner).

OK, something is wrong. I was in the area of a battle between a Nebula class and a Cardie. I was not a participant in the battle, meaning no one fired on me and I fired on no one, but I was there. After the Nebula blew up the Cardie it fired a torpedo at ME and I was destroyed from that one shot!

Hmm...what was your hull strength..were shields up? If you were in between the two you might have been caught in the crossfire...torpedoes, friendly or from the enemy, will do damage to you if you get in the way. The torpedoes also pack a heavy punch...so if your shields were down then you would have been destroyed with 1 torpedo impact in a runabout :)

 

Also the ships fire stray torpedoes sometimes, so you have to keep your distance from battles.

Yes I know of that error :) It happens if you dock or look at the map while the communications window is still open. You have to always be sure to close the comm window before you do anything else right now, except of course using the beam button which you must use with the comm window open.

 

I dont know why its doing that yet.

Its probably loading from your cache. Click the link at the bottom of the instruction file to go to the game and when it loads, click Refresh on your toolbar and it might reset. Otherwise go in and delete your offline files in your IE options and it'll load anew.

I figured out the problem with the hail button and it will be fixed in future versions :)

 

Meanwhile I'm hard at work trying to get the server-side php save feature to work so players can play in the same universe, so to speak. Ie when someone liberates a system, the other players will also see it liberated...and you'll join a big fleet of other players and it'll list who is who and what ship they have and rank them and all that. Cooperative play without actually seeing each other. Should be neat if I can ever get it to work. :)

I'd personally like to see that happen. Sim ships united :). It feels like armada 2 with some SFC3 tastes. Good job. hm...maybe too persumpuious but hey hehehehee.
