It Just Doesn't Add Up

Juhdia finished his check up on the Cloaking Device and filed his diagnostic log. Then he left Engineering for a break. He could have gone to the holodeck, were there was a showing of ‘The African Queen’, but he had already seen the flick five hundred times already, so Juhdia headed down up to the lounge to relieve some stress.

When Juhdia entered the lounge, there were only seven other people in the lounge. He walked over to the replicator, “Riegelian Ginger Mint Iced Tea.” The drink appeared before him, he took it and sat down. Then Juhdia took out five PADDs from his jacket and took a sip of his tea. Juhdia shrugged then placed the glass on the table and began to review the data on the PADDs.

After reviewing the data about the Warp Drive Systems, Juhdia shook his head, “Damn it! Every time the Matter/Anti-Matter blows up and turns the Warp Nacelles into a floating bomb.”

The others in the lounge turned to Juhdia with odd expressions on their faces. He looked around, holding up a PADD, “New designs.” The others nodded.

Juhdia sipped his ice tea, he placed the glass down and picked up another PADD, he thought to himself, “Come on Juhdia, you built the first Warp drive with Zefram and John. Of course we used a different power supply, but I worked on later versions. I was there when Dr. Archer designed a Warp three. Oh, I should have been there, working first hand, not via mail. Well, I just have to accept the fact, that I cannot do it.” Juhdia dropped his head on the table. “Maybe later, this is a prototype and they don’t all make it from prototype to working models, but the first works are used for later versions.”

Juhdia finished with his work on the Impulse drive and finished his tea. Then he grabbed his PADDs and went to O’Neal’s office to drop off his resource request form for the Impulse drive enhancements.
