"Begin recording,

I was anxious about my first day at the academy. Reading the guidelines of conduct, I knew that I could succeed and graduate. I entered the Halodeck where training would begin, with great anticipation. I knew that I must succeed, make a great first impression.

Our Commander asked what position we would like to begin our careers in, I was split between tactical and ops. I finally chose ops because I wanted to be in the position to get all crucial information to my Captain quickly.

Our mission was to go into the nebula; the reason eludes me as I record this. I knew that this was not a good idea as soon as I saw the radiation levels in the ship rise. Our helmsman did his best, but we took a direct hit from an escaping plasma stream that breeched the hull on several decks. I erected force fields to contain those areas, but we lost a man. I felt so bad about my failure.

The Commander was in a state of shock, I called sickbay to report to the bridge, I got no response. The comm. system may have been malfunctioning, although I saw no indication on my console.

I suggested to turn back and leave the nebula, we had lost too many people, the captain agreed; the helmsman made an about face.

Right when I thought that it was going to be OK, that my suggestion was going to save us all, the most horrible tragedy occurred, most likely programmed in though, to test us. A huge plasma stream disabled the shields and collapsed the bulkheads keeping the bridge together, the bridge had breeched. Air started escaping from my lungs as I started to faint. I’m not sure if it was me, or another officer, but the force fields regained enough power to reactivate. I recompressed the bridge, but to my utter horror, I heard no request for a damage report. I looked behind me to see nobody sitting in the command chairs; both the Captain and Commander were sucked out. With simulated fatality reports pouring in from all decks I knew I had to take command, as none of the other cadets knew what to do. I announced the situation, and assigned myself as acting captain.

With warp engines down, port thrusters down, no indication or shielding, I thought about abandoning ship, I ran option through my head as we continued out of the nebula. The ship suddenly exploded in a glorious, but disappointing shower of burning failure. I had taken too long to make a decision. I had put my head out to try to salvage the simulation, but failed with my teachers watching. I hope that my next sim tonight will give me the opportunity to shine.

End recording."

Yeah, it was pretty crazy. Probably nothing could have been done to succeed.
