Ensign Garnoopy Personal Log

Stardate 50301.17

:: slams fist on table, infuriated ::

The Reaent has sustained heavy damage do to that p’tagh probe that we beamed over. I was on the bridge, and our science offers were studying the probe, to find if we could get information from it about this sector. The probe began emitting a high frequency, extremely condensed message to an old, but still used Romulan station on their side of the neutral zone.

Shields were raised, but the probes signal still continued to transmit to the Romulans. The Captain ordered static to be broadcasted on the probe’s frequency, which was of little effect. A forcefield was raised around the CB, which when reached top power, managed to block out only 45% of the transmission’s power. Meanwhile, the entire Engineering crew went to the CB to attempt to stop the probe from broadcasting except for one Ensign, who left to do something.

:: getting more infuriated as recording ::

Internal alarms went off from a thruster of the probes being fired. Apparently injuring engineers who were trying to disable the probe. They apparently are not good jonwI’* for they could not even turn the probe.

Internal sensor alarms continued to blare as the probe began to expand, smashing some part of it into the Cargo Bay roof, tearing it apart. Meanwhile, the engineers continued to attempt to get out of the cargo bay.

:: slams fist on table ::

I suggest to the Captain that we beam the probe into space, but he ignored me completely, allowing the probe to expand again, and smash a rod into the control room in the cargo bay, sending off further alarms and causing more damage.

After the engineering team managed to evacuate, I raised a level ten forcefield around the cargo bay, attempting to contain the probe. Meanwhile, the probe began to have a buildup in power, a form of an energy charge of some sort.

I once again suggested to the Captain that we beam it off the ship, but he once again ignored me. If it were not for my Starfleet training, I would have just beamed it off without authorization. But instead, I allowed it to sit there, causing damage.

:: smashes padd on desk, shattering it into two pieces ::

The Captain continued to ignore my protests to leaving the probe in the cargo bay. He decided to use the cargo bay tractor emitters, which I informed him would not work because the probe was logged into the walls, but he ignored me.

I followed his orders and attempted to tractor the probe out, even though I knew it would not work. Before I could do much, the probe fired a huge energy discharge downwards, right through the forcefield around the cargo bay and the floor, and then ignited a plasma relay.

The plasma ignited, and turned the entire cargo bay into a fireball. A 4-meter diameter hole was blown in the side of the ship, and completely incinerated all that was in the cargo bay besides the probe, which was a few boxes of engineering supplies.

Emergency forcields were activated, containing the hull breach. I activated forcefields around the cargo bay, and then decompressed the cargo bay, putting the fires out and removing the remainder of the probe.

The Emergency forcefield was reactivated, and a damage report was ascertained by myself. There is a hold in the cargo bay floor, along with a hole in the side of the ship. Power fluctuations are raging on the cargo bay deck, and all cargo bay systems are offline.

:: sits, still angry ::

Shields had to be lowered so the derbies from the probe could head away from the ship instead of bouncing off shields and causing more damage to the Reaent.

Sickbay reported only minor injuries, which is good considering the damage done to the ship. The storm has dissipated in the atmosphere, and we should be able to contact the away team at any point. They have hopefully had more luck finding information than we did.
