True story about an uber-nerd witnessed when STSF went to Vegas:

 

You would think that Star Trek: The Experience would be the one place we could get away with wearing uniforms and whatnot. Atragon did wear some Star Trek ornaments (He actually had more Babylon 5 than anything else) but that was it. No one wore any uniforms. Later on, walking the strip, completely on the other side of town, we saw tourists in full regulation TNG uniforms. There wasn't even a convention in town that weekend! :)

Anyone care to bring me up to speed on what you're talking about... jury-wise.

In the early Clinton years there was a high-profile legal case - Whitewater or some other thing (The Clintons were sued so much who could tell?) - that went to the jury selection process. One person wore her regulation Star Trek uniform to the jury screening "the way any officer serving in the military would". Obviously she was not selected for the jury but the incident did make a minor chuckle in the national media. When they were filming the movie "Trekkies" they did a special segment on her.

 

Fast forward about 6-7 years later and I was picked to be a potential juror myself. I was serving on the Reaent at the time and said I might be missing a sim because of jury duty. Fred gave standing orders for anyone seeing me in a Star Trek uniform to get out of jury duty to shoot me on sight.

Apparently her dismissal as an alternate juror had nothing to do with her Star Trek uniform, just that she spoke to the media about it while the trial was on.

 

Personally I would have found her in contempt of court for bringing a phaser. :)

lol, this is what I'm saying! We really need to shift the migration at least once to go during the convention! In a truely sick way, I miss seeing all the nerdites dressing up, including you guys. I miss walking into my hotel through a crowd of Klingons... I miss the cheap plastic toys.

 

I'll offer you a challenge. If we go to the Vegas convention, *I* will wear a costume that year. ;)

I can see us all dressed up as are respective characters. Las Vegas never looked more wierder befor breakfast. See different parking lots reservered for different sims. I would love to see Vex dressed as a Delphain. FYI if anyone expects me in a Clan Ruain suite, I'll dress as Whiskers first!

Heh, I must have felt these post vibes, because just today I went, "hmm... I think it's about time to sift through last year's photos and add to the collection..."

 

As for Twister... somewhere out there (and I know where and I'm not telling where) is some video footage that shall never see the light of day.

 

As I think about it... we really were a tad toned down this past year. I think it's time to ramp things up again.
