Wow...Howards a few months behind!! Oh wait, that's right, he can't be as vulgar anymore, so he's actually got to catch up on things and ::shock:: report news and entertainment!! LOL

Not to get off topic but... OK, yeah, to get off topic, damnit!

The whole case against Howard Stern is baseless. If you are offended by something he does on the radio, don't listen to him! Problem solved. Simple as that. I mean it's not like a radio is supposed to be some essential, pure, life-giving device the way the Internet is. :)

::Opens up the opinion bank::

Allright, I saw the topic, and I have so many answers I don't know where to start. So please excuse my ramblings.

First>The Next Generation going around the horn once more? "Does the phase Hell no we we won't go mean anything." Nemesis just poisioned me to that crew, despite the fact I still love First Contact. If they want to called out Picard & CO. again, I am begging, give me a chance to write the script. Hey that is an idea! Let STSF.netters write the script, then odds are we'll have a story with a plot, depth, and not stupid bits with dune buggies!

Second>Voyager. You want to make a good movie with Voyager? How about someone Janeway pissed off in the Delta Quaderant has come to the Alpha Quaderant has come to pay a visit. Better yet, have a Q problem. Then we can have Picard & Company in there after all. At least Picard won't feel lonely when he sees the flash, and instant headache.

Third>DS9 & Enterprise losts of materail, but give us a break from the movies! FYI, if I see 7of9, or T'Pau in a cat suit, I am walking out!

::nods:: Totaly. You can sue something like that. I'd be like sueing a man, for seeing him in public, with many body piercings. If it offends you, dont watch. If you dont want your kids to see it, dont let them watch it. Simple as that.

All I see in the case is some money hungery moron, trying to make a name for themselves by "Fighting the Vulgarness of TV"

Not to further steer us off topic...but there are laws against vulgarity in broadcasting (not that i am saying its right, but there are) and they include a set of standards that say what you can and can not say (or show) on air. And before anyone quotes the first amendment to me--vulgarity is not protected under first amendment rights (although Obscenity is under a suprume court rulling.)

Star Trek needs a breather in the movie department. It's best for the franchise, especially when the studio it orginates from could even think of competing with a LOTR movie.

I have no problem waiting a while for the next one. And hopefully the studio will use a little more sense when picking a release date.

They should do a plotline based on the Arcadia, with the Monkiens so my invented race can be canon :)

Simming seems like it has expanded greatly as a hobby in the last 5 years or so. If they are still looking for ideas for the 2nd movie maybe we can send them a proposal about STSF or simming in general.

The only other thing that is "new" since the first Trekkies came out is Star Trek: The Experience. STSF does have somewhat of an endorsement from startrek.com which is owned by Paramount so we might be able to get a few minutes of screen time.

Just a thought.

Hmm, who to play my many characters. I see Shwanger as Lyon (Once he's done as Gov of Calinforna). Whiskers & Oya need animation teams. I'll do Whiskers voice, and Oya, get Dinobot's guy from Beast Wars. As per Janet, hmm, anyone know a trime brunette,

OK, we've gone from simmers pretending to be characters to actors pretending to be simmers. :)

Actually, several of us where around when they were filming some of the convention footage, and let me tell you.....we avoided it like the plague. They managed to pick out, just about all the nut cases, that 'even we' avoid at the cons. I do think I remember seeing some of our backs in one shot, as we're trying to avoid the cameras.

Some of us weren't so lucky for the TNT special that was shown two years ago, where we came around the corner, not knowing they were shooting, and got caught in the shot.

Granted, I dont' mind the fact the my drivers license, work id and passport all have me in a trek uniform, but when they reach down to the depths that they were pulling some of those folks from.....no thanks...I'll walk...no run... the other way.

Trust me, we've met some of them.... ::remember our favorite SF Marine and his list of questions about the warp drive, folks!?? :: LOL

As a side note...Trekkies is the only movie I've been to, where I actually stood up, and walked to the door 5 times to leave because it was so bad. I was also the only one in the theater, thus prompting the up and down. I did stay, cause I had to justify wasting the money. Granted, Denise is a pretty cool person, and we've spoken to her before, even giving her directions to the playground so she could get her kids off to play in private way from the con, but the film...ugh...it did nothing to enhance what people thought about us, other than the negative aspects.

Just my opinion.

Uhhh, not much. As the contents of "Trekkies" are true, the laughs are mined from how ridiculous the documentary's subjects are made to look. I have no desire to be part of that laugh track, either personally or for STSF. That isn't the type of publicity we want. I have never subscribed to the notion of "no publicity is bad publicity."

I will have to admit that most of the time in the movie I was chuckling espically the part with the boy who is making his own movie (actualy i wanted to slap him at one point). So yeah I don't think it would be "a good thing" for us to be on there.

I would appear in a Trek Nerd movie in a heartbeat! I mean, who cares?? Nobody I know watches the crap, so it's not like they'd be coming up to me and saying, "Oh my God! I saw you in that Star Trek movie!" And if they made another one (which I doubt they will), perhaps they'd have listened to the complaints and included more "regular" nerds than just the freakish ones. Oh wait, that rules out STSF... hahaha. JUST kidding. Sort of.

But a movie entirely about STSF? What would it show?? A bunch of people sitting behind their computers typing for two hours? Now that *would* be weird! We actually considered entering a skit based on that in the ST contest down in Baltimore, just because of the absurdity of it. We were too lazy to coordinate it, though. I think STSF would be good for about 7 minutes of movie entertainment, lol. Now... if we could just convince the annual migration to move a week or two to go during the convention in Vegas... Ooo...
