Just looking at the huge Custom Titles thread...is there any way to just allow the user to modify their own title? Seems like that would take a lot of tedious work away from the webmaster :)

In the early days of this site that's actually what they did. Webbie had to disable the option.

Actually I think it was more of a "preemptive strike" when we changed from the old site to this one. I didn't see any abusers for the limited time we had the option. Most people didn't even know they could do it. I stumbled on it by accident.

 

But the way I see it, the risk of someone posting an inappropriate title is no greater than someone posting an inappropriate avitar. Maybe the time has come to open it up and let people change their titles the way we change our avitars.

Or someone putting something inappropriate in their signature. Maybe it was done for a reason other than potential abuse?

I am guessing there is a good reason for why we mere mortals :P don't have the power to change our titles. Which is prolly a good thing for most of us, save for Kroells who seems to change his title like he does his underwear :)
