To mourn or not to mourn. That is the question.

John had just finished up his shift and had decided that it would be best if he went to his quarters to rest up a bit before the memorial service for Commander Dacotah. As he walked in he was greeted by his new fluffy companion, Chester the cat.

"Hey Chester" said John as he proceeded to pick the cat up and pet him; the cat responded by purring. He placed the cat back down and headed off into the sonic shower. He took off his tunic and the remainder of his uniform and waltzed into the shower. As he stood in the shower and the sonic waves proceeded to remove the dirt from his skin he started thinking.

He knew that during the time the Romulans had them on board their ship, which he now knew as the Talon, that they would not be capable of killing a Starfleet officer without cause. Especially the Executive officer of a vessel like the Arcadia. He didn't think they would be able to do it, although they would be capable of torturing her to death, but the Commander was as tough as bricks and getting smacked around a bit would not kill her.

He had heard the stories from his Klingon colleagues that the Romulans were all talk and no guts; pitiful Pa'tak's they said. Now that he had met them he knew what they were talking about and agreed, he held no respect for them for lack of honor they had.

As he finished up with his shower and waltzed back out he put on a fresh set of clothes, he could not come to terms that the Commander might be dead, sub-consciously he clung onto the idea that she was alive. He knew that it was foolish for him to cling onto it and that it should not interfere with his better judgment. It would be best for him to admit that she was dead and that she was not coming back.....

He felt that a small Klingon dirge in his quarters in memory of Hayden passing on to Sto-Vo-Cor where Kahless would welcome her warrior spirit would be an proper way to mourn her passing. He lit a small candle in the middle of his quarters and kneeled down onto the floor infront of the candle, he proceeded on with singing the dirge in Klingon and at the end of the dirge he let off a howl, warning the heavens that a great warrior was coming there way.

He felt it was an appropriate way to respect the memory of Hayden Dacotah. Dead or Alive.
