"Hypo It Away"

McLean walked leisurely back into his quarters, fresh off his first day as Chief Engineer.  He had played his "I'm the boss" routine quite well, but such acts made him tired.  "What do they give me?" he inquired of himself placing a few PADDs upon his desk for further review, "Kids."  McLean glanced around the room, seeing it still in complete shambles.  Upon his bed lay his bags, still untouched.  He went to them and opened one of them up.  From within the bag he pulled out a smaller black case.

"What you need George...is to relax a little," he said to himself, while opening the case.  Within the case was a medical hypospray and three small bottles of clear liquids.  He flipped open the top of the first one and inserted the bottle into the bottom of the hypospray.  George examined the hypospray for a moment, then smiled.  "You've always been here for me," he said sarcastically.  After a few moments he took the hypospray and injected the substance into his left arm.

"There we go," George said with a loose jaw, "thasss...bedderrr."  George stumbled towards the replicator, shaking his head back and forth.  "Compudder," he began, barely being able to pronounce the words, "Champagne...for my new assignment!"  Before George's eyes materialized a glass of champagne.  George mumbled a few more things before taking up the glass of champagne.  As he walked back over towards his bed, more than half of the liquid splashed onto the floor, but he didn't notice.  "To Reaent!" he shouted lifting the glass above his heading forcing some droplets to dot his face.

George lowered his arms and held the glass to his lips, before drinking the rest of the contents in one gulp.  Then he let the glass fall out of his hand and shatter on the ground.  He looked down at it and smiled, "Whoopsie!"  George looked up, turned, then flopped on his bed, just for a moment dreading the nasty headache he would wake up with.  The feeling of dread quickly fled as George fell into slumber, dreaming of happier days.
