The Manticore was investigating a black hole when it was pulled

into a temporal displacement field and finds itself 5,000 years in the

future, in orbit around an Earth with no living creature on it. The

scans of the "cities" show stone and earthen structures overgrown

with thousands of years of neglect. The stresses of the trip caused

damage to the engines and left us running on a low supply of liquid

Deuterium for all systems. We have abandoned the ship and left

a skeleton crew behind to repair the damage while the rest went

planetside to try to fabricate Deuterium. We have now been on

the planet for eight months now, having set up a long-term

encampment, growing food and making Deuterium for the ship.
