Ensign Goad Personal Log - Stardate 0301.12

Computer, Begin Recording…

After being stuck in my quarters on my previous shift, I finally escaped. It seems something in the primary door control malfunctioned. Being stuck so long had given me a headache, so I made my first stop sickbay. Dr. Matthews was busy giving Lt. Mclean, the new Chief Engineer, his physical, so I just explored sickbay for a while. I think the doctor must have done something to the Captain with that thermometer of hers to be able to get a sickbay this big.

Seeing how I was wasting my time exploring sickbay, I decided to take a look over some Romulan biographical information. It may prove useful later on as we continue to explore the abandoned base on the planet below us. After Dr. Matthews gave me a pill of some sort to help with my headache, I continued on my way and reported to duty in science. Lt. Sivuk was out, so I contacted him and he ordered me to report to the bridge.

Upon arriving at the bridge, I learned we were monitoring a storm that had overtaken the base area. The away team was having to wait it out in their shuttle, due to the lack of structural stability in the base. Sivuk was manning the science station when I arrived, but he quickly handed that to me and took up the Ops/Helm station. The bridge was fairly empty with several of the senior staff, including Commander Ridire, and Lt. Shamor, on the surface in the away team. I hadn’t been on the bridge long when sensors detected a small object in orbit of the planet’s 4th moon. Lt. Sivuk, Captain Michaels, and myself were the only officers on the bridge at the time.

Upon further examination, we found that the object was an old Romulan sensor marker. Captain Michaels ordered Lt. Sivuk to break orbit and take us closer to the probe. They say you learn something new everyday, and I guess that was true today as I had no idea Sivuk had piloting skills! About this time Ensign Garnoopy joined us on the bridge, and took up the tactical duties.

Finding that the sensor marker was too old to be dangerous, and to far away to send information to the Romulans, the Captain decided to pull it into cargo bay 1. Scans have revealed that the marker contains some low level sensors, although quite old. As I speak, Lt. Sivuk and myself have just made our way to the cargo bay to try and download sensor information from the probe. Perhaps this will give us a better idea of what really happened in this area when the Romulans abandoned it…

Computing, End Recording.
