Web Pages or IRC clients

I have been looking at this site, and I have much experience with simming, and I find that I only have two questions:

 

If I want to sim, do I have to come come to the web site or can I sim here using my own chat client?

 

If I can use my own IRC chat client, can anybody tell me what the Name & address and port number is? I have mIRC and wish to sim and chat.

We use neither mIRC nor any sort of messenger service for our chat. Our main chat rooms are StarTrek.com's "Holodeck" and "Ready Room" chat rooms. These rooms, as you may have noticed, are undergoing an upgrade. Because of the upgrade, we are currently holding simulations in our emergency back-up rooms on this site. These rooms are located here. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Hey Doc, welcome aboard.

 

You can also access the chat rooms by using the "Live Chat" link in the upper right hand corner of the messageboards.

 

The name you'll sign in as, will be the your posting name for the boards. So, if you ever need to use a different persona, for say logs, you can simply register another one, such as what I did with my characters half brother, Daniel Kroells.

I think I remember hearing that the Startrek.com chatrooms would be back up at 26 January... oh well, that's big corporations for you. :)

It's one thing to get chat rooms to work for an hour 1/2 period during an event chat...quite another to get them running for 5-7 hours per day. :)

I'm just hoping they fix the bugs and exploits in an intelligent way - and the darn things work correctly on Linux. After that, it's all window dressing.

We still have no details on the new rooms at ST.COM besides their being based on the DigiChat client software. Once I find out any details (including when they will debut for our use), I will let you know. Thanks!
