Personal Log Stardate 0402.20

Rear Admiral Frederic Meve

"Begin Recording,

I am less than an hour out from arriving back on Aegis. I must say it will be a welcome site. My visit to Starbase 375 was...interesting. I thought assuming command was a headache, I had no idea what a promotion above the four pip mark entailed. A large part of me wish I still didn't know.

As expected, Aegis has now been slated as the head of Starfleet operations within the Cardassia sector. I find this somewhat ironic since supposedly the station was already, but apparently the facility must be under the command if a bigwig in order to be so classified. Oh for the Great One...I'm a bigwig. Hu! End it now...someone....

There are some positives to the entire situation. Aegis will not be receiving more intelligence reports and become a more important focus for activities within the Cardassian Sector, which currently entails the upper quadrants of Cardassian space. Previously, we only had the material flowing in dealing with Cardassia Prime itself. In addition, upon the completion of the paperwork for the promotion, I filed documents increasing the standard personnel aboard Aegis from three hundred and fifty to now five hundred and twenty-five. It's been a problem we've had for years, at least now I have the power to do something about it.

In addition, the charter of the station has now changed. While we'll still be focused on attempting to aid Cardassia Prime, our primary goal is now one of a standard outpost. This will hopefully allow for more focus on extending Starfleet's deep space exploration programs and beginning detailed explorations of many areas within Cardassia space the former Cardassian Union didn't bother to focus on. It's amazing that a government would ignore exploration in such a manner, but they did.

I'm also pleased for Nick. While it isn't his own command, he at least is in a far better position to get one when the opportunity presents itself. I'm hoping to finalize a loophole and solve that problem within the next several months, but we'll see. With any luck, the Great One will give us some time to recover before the next bombshell is dropped.

End recording."
