Brian Graham

Shore Leave!

"Computer, discontinue music."

The shuttle became silent as Brian Graham hailed the Excalibur and requested clearance to land. With go-ahead from OPS, Brian took the shuttle into the bay and eased it onto the deck. Making sure to take his holorecorder, Brian disembarked the shuttle, nodded to the officer in charge of the bay, and exited the bay.

After a brief trip on a turbolift, the Ensign entered his quarters, packed some of his clothes and headed for the nearest transporter room. After entering the transporter room and informing the operator of the coordinates, Brian stepped onto the transporter pad and nodded to the officer.

In a few moments, the familiar deckplates and bulkheads were replaced with the familiar scenes of the English countryside. Turning around, Brian recognized the home that belonged to his parents. Walking up the short path to the house, Brian knocked on the door and was greeted by the shocked look from his mother.

"Brian!" she said, hugging her son, "this is a suprise."

"Hi mom, how have you been?"

"Oh your father and I have been getting along fine, besides missing you."

"Speaking of which, where is dad?"

"Out in the field, where else?" joked his mother.

"Ha, I should have known. I'll see if I can go find him." And with that Brian went out to find his father.

For Johnathon Graham, this was the life. A small, self sufficient farm on the edge of the world.

"Dad!" came a voice from off to his right.

Torn from his work, Johnathon turned toward someone he shouldn't have seen in this area, or even this planet.

"Brian, what are you doing here?"

"The Excalibur is in orbit and I'm on shore leave for the time being."

"Good then you can help me with this field."

"Sure dad, just let me take care of my stuff and I'll be back in a minute."

"Alright, and it's good to see you again son."

"It's good to see you too dad."

Brian headed back to the house to find some old work clothes, and Johnathon went back to work.
