I'll go with Geordi, for this one.. I always liked him, ever since I first started watching TNG. I thought he knew his stuff, and he is a good actor. But I did sure like him Reading Rainbow from my youth.

Well I had to go with B'elanna, and even this took some thinking. 3 main reasons:

1) I liked that 1st season episode where she gave a repair estimate on something. Janeway asked "How long will it really take?" or words to that effect and B'elanna said something like "I know some engineers inflate their repair estimates, but I don't. If I say it will take 3 hours (or whatever it was) it will take 3 hours." Much more reliable than Scotty's "multiply by 4" estimate.

2) She has engineering experience from Starfleet AND the Maquis. She has a broader range of experience to draw on and isn't locked into doing everything the Starfleet way.

3) Hey, shes cute! Need I say more? :)

O'Brien. Not only did he keep DS9 itself up and running (integrating Federation and Cardassian technology... but also a fleet of ships during the war. :)

It would have been interesting to see Geordi have to fix some technical problem without the use of his VISOR.

Like Fred said, there is only one true "Miracle Worker"

Kirk: Scotty How long will it take you to hvae everything automated?

Scotty: OH Six weeks Captain, but yah don;t have six weeks so I'll do it in two.

Kirk: Mr. Scott have you always multiplied your reapir estimates by a factor of three?

Scott: Of Course Captain, how else would I keep my reputation as a Miracle Worker?

I'd say B'elanna. You mess with her, she'd beat the crap out of you. I admire that.

Before long, however, the electrical storms on Galorndon wreak havoc on Bochra's nervous system and render Geordi's visor inoperable, temporarily blinding him. Geordi is able to convince the critically ill Romulan that their only hope for survival is to beam aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, and the two enemies join forces to locate the beacon.

Scotty..... Everyone stinks against Scotty.

Every chief engineer was very closly related to Scotland:

Scotty: Name and Accent

Geordi: Name

Belana: one episode said she was there for a while

O'Brian: Name

Trip..... cant tell yet
