Changes On Enterprise...

37 posts in this topic

From Zap2It.com

According to the above report, UPN plans to move Star Trek: Enterprise to Wednesdays @ 9:00pm ET within the near future. This would cause it to occupy the same timeslot that Star Trek: Voyager held for seven years.

This will get the show out of competition with Smallville and I believe American Idol. On the flip side, it will now be up against The West Wing (which has collapsing ratings), Angel and The O.C.. Note that this hasn't been confirmed.

What does everyone think?

For me, I never understood why it didn't take Voyager's timeslot in the first place. I have always thought 8:00pm was a bit too early, but what do I know. With The West Wing not being such a popular show anymore, and no longer being up against fellow major sci-fi spinoff Smallville, might increasing viewership. Heck, it's been on the rise already this entire season. Doubt this will hurt!

Wonder if this means the show will indeed be around for a fourth season...

In MY part of the country (SF Bay Area) it was always in Voyager's old slot. Or at least it was. Since I moved and consequently switched from cable to dish I no longer get our local UPN station so I don't know what it is now.

The time slot makes no difference to me. LOL

My home computer records it in digital format and then when I have time to watch it, I have the video playback sent back to the TV. :)

(Yes... I'm a nerd with a nerd job and nerd toys at home.)

In my neck of the woods, the last two weeks of of Enterprise have not been shown and have been replaced with Basketball, with the station bumping Enterprise all over the place here. I'm started to get really annoyed since the team here sucks and who'd want to watch them play?

I've been wanting to write a very wordy letter to them to state the obvious, the team sucks, no one watches, and stop playing them on Enterprise night!!

We wouldn't want a Revenge of the Nerds riot in town. :P

EDIT:I'm a huge fan of The West Wing, but I can always catch the re-runs and catch up with Enterprise. I loved The OC but Fox shows it almost every day so I never worry about missing it on Wednesday either :)

Oh crud! That stinks. I like West Wing too, and 8pm was perfect, as there's nothing else watchable at 8, unless you're catching the hockey or basketball game.

grrr :)

Hey there,

Well, I have two comments.

- Rob, I want some of your nerd toys and your nerd job. It's a higher on the "nerd" chain than mine at the moment.

- I can agree with you Blu about The West Wing. I like the drama (though not the politics) of the show. I'll have to go back to setting two VCRs...as I'm never home at that time on Wednesday nights.

Well.. seeing that I am a fan of American Idol, I guess I can live with seeing Enterprise move to 9 (Even though Idol also airs at Tuesday at 8, on CTV). I thought the 8:00 timeslot was fine the way it was. But I can live with the move, it Paramount ever decides to do so.

Edit: but then again, I don't get UPN, me being a Canadian. So maybe there's the chance CITY TV will keep it at 8. The extrememly popular Bachorette airs at 9, and I really don't think they're gonna move Enterprise into that timeslot.

I'd prefer it at midnight. Oh well, they don't plan demographics based on me. Good thing. If I *were* home on Wednesdays, I'd go for the 9, since I like Smallville too. Sorry, always been a comic fan and always will be. Okay, I'm not sorry at all. I'd probably like West Wing too. Oh, so much prime time TV and so little me!

Although I am snowed in tonight, so it had better be a good episode.

Lol, american Idol is only good for watching those pathetic fools at the begining. I'm glad it moved, now, I can watch That 70's show, or smallville at 7 (CST!!! Boo east coast) and then enterprise at 8.

Hey there,

Here's an update. According to several sources, it's possible this time change may be a temporary one. It's possible Star Trek: Enterprise may move back to 8:00pm ET at the end of April.

If this is true, it makes zero common sense to me.

Really? Are they pre-empting Enterprise for something else? It's not like there's anything else good to watch on UPN, is there?:)

Fred,

Anyone can pick up one of Webby's nerd toys. It's called a Tivo, and you can get one at Best Buy for about $200.

These things are a gift to television. They digitally intercept signals on their way to your TV. So when you didn't catch what they said on West Wing, you can hit the instant replay button and repeat it as many times as it takes. When the phone rings right when the jury is coming back on Law and Order, you can hit the pause, answer the phone, and not miss the verdict. And they hold anywhere from 20 to 80 hours of programs, so you can set it to record Enterprise for you whenever it's on and watch the entire season in one day if you're clever.

It's a good thing.

Moose

P.S. Granted, Webby probably programmed his home computer to do the same thing, but he didn't need to go to all that trouble. : )

Hey there,

Well sure...but you know it looks pretty cool when his PC is displaying 160 TV channels all at the same time. B)

You would not want to see my desk at home. LOL. I have my primary desktop setup with 2 15" LCD monitors (dual monitor setup)... my laptop on the side desk, my Cisco IP phone (so I can have access to my work phone from home when needed), along with my printer, TV interface console, radio interface, my Nomad Jukebox 3 (I plan on getting one of the new iPods soon. They're just too cool.) Not to mention my Creative Labs speakers, whatever reference books I happen to have pulled out at the moment (right now a guide on advanced Bind 9 DNS settings for Linux servers), my "book of the moment"... John Grisham's The Last Juror, and my Super Big Gulp cup usually filled with ice water or iced tea. lol

I also have one of the new iMacs at my other desk (not mine, loaned by a friend out of town for a few months) for web development purposes, my digital camera, video camera, headphone microphone set, and a few other gadgets.

It's just a shame I don't get to be at home enough to play with it. lol

Oh... not this month... but next month... I think I'm planning on getting a new sound card. I have been eyeing the new Sound Blaster sound cards. It has been something I've been drooling over for a while now. lol

BTW... I normally don't watch a lot of TV on my computer monitors. I just pipe it back to the TV. It's a lot bigger, and the sound is better that way. :D

Webby - don't go iPod, you're just paying for the name and paying too much! Just upgrade what you already have. I've got the Creative Nomad Zen Xtra, almost half the price of an iPod and has a 60 GB drive. You can use it for data backup as well as MP3's. I've got 250 CD's on it now and that barely breaks the 10 GB mark, so I got ROOM to spare. Those coming to Vegas can see it themselves!

What makes you think I'm not the dark side? I've supposedly been one of it's ring leaders for several years now. B)
