Alright, now I just want to know...how can anyone say there was a better first officer than Spock?

 

Riker's too busy trying to find a girlfriend....

 

T'Pol's too busy trying to find close that don't fit...

 

Chakotay is too busy being on a vision quest...

 

And Kira is too busy getting pregnant...

I vote T'Pol as a sympathy vote (and other fairly obvious reasons) but Riker/Chakotay are pretty hands on and warish, besides, I hate Vulcans ruling out everything that seems impossible, they though warp 10 was impossible, so ha, in their face!

And, you know, the writers love it when there are opposite sex CO/XO teams.  Rodenberry wanted it from the beginning (he was such a visionary!) when he made Majel the XO, but the stuffed shirts at the time wouldn't have it.  If they had only known where that was heading!  Some of the best drama of the entire genre!

 

They tried to make light of the Chakotay/Janeway thing, but the fans always secretly wanted the two of them to get together.

 

And don't forget Riker/Shelby, when Picard became Locutus!  Riker told his other officers that he needed them right where they were, and that was the reason he made Shelby XO.  SURE he did! ;-)

 

And now Archer/T'Pol?  The writers are having a field day!  (And I imagine Bakula doesn't resent it TOO much! ;-) )

You'll never convince me that they *didn't* do it... I mean "get together" when they were quarentined on that planet for like MONTHS before Voyager was able to get back...  :D

Well I won't comment on this Male/Female thing, but here is my vote anyway.

 

Riker was good, but just like Picard will never pass Kirk, Riker will never pass Spock in my opinion.   :D  And like Fred said, Chakotay was always on a vision quest, a little to much for my tastes.
