Actually, in Gold Finger, James Bnd drove the Astom Amrtin DB-5. A very sexy car

But, the Mereces Gull Wing definately is one of my favourites.  Such a beautiful design, well ahead of its time.

Correct on the DB-5...the DB-6 was featured in another Bond movie :P

As for the SL it is a true jem to behold...espically in the 'Silver-Arrow' version picture above...and to the Import/Big 3 comment and the Toyota Prius They're called the Golden 'Calipers' (you know like break calipers ) I believe..if i am not horrible off base on this one the Americans are way ahead in that Category and add to that The F-150 won the truck of the year honor over an import so yeah take that even though the Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans are more American than the Fords and GM's...danged Canadian cars

Which Bond movie was thaat? The only Bond flicks I recall with Astons are the DB-5 in Goldeneye and the V-12 Vanquish in Die Another Day. And I've seen ALL the Bond flicks.

Thats the Model U a highly advanced automobile, Hydro engine, Bidegradable interior, and the most advanced internal computer ever placed inside a car.

If you've never owned a Ford how do you know that they are so bad as you say? We've owned Hondas, Toyotas, and so on before and they broke down a lot more then our Fords ever did. We own a 1992 Taurus that we bought new and we've never had a problem with that. We bought a brand new 2000 civic and it gave us so much trouble we sold it within 4 months. So don't get me started on your perfect Hondas or Toyotas because they break down a lot too so shush.

I may not have owned a Ford, but a lot of my friends did though and through there experiences they hated them so I swore to never even think of getting one.

Guess your Honda's broke down because they didn't like being the company of the Ford's :P . Gotta remember car's got feelings too and they can get very jealous of other cars.

And I'm not saying Honda's are perfect, it just my expreiences with them have proven them better than American cards.

I'm sorry to tell you but people drive cars differant ways and they probably ride them harder then you do and thats probably why they have problems.

And odds are: Your Honda was probably North American made. However, I do agree. EVERY car is bound to break down some time in it's life. Some makes however more than others. My family had American cars troughout my life.. I still rmember my mother's Plymouth Reliant. A practical, little thing. It broke down a few times, and we had to get rid of it after it got in an accident.

It looked exactly like this one.. even in the same colour, but it had a blue interior. :P

::sighs:: Memories..

and its also a concept car :P Although the Ford insiders said that some parts of it would eventually make it into production...Namely the Fuel cell, which they put in a Ranger and will prolly put in in either the Focus or Taurus replacements due sometime in the next year or so...just don;t expect to buy one anytime soon

How can someone in Florida ride a car harder than someone somewhere else? I don't see your logic behind it and the whole riding a car hard.

My car drives likes a bat of you know where, it's not like I drive down the street like some of the old people around here. I'm one of the worse drivers around here. :). All my friends never liked driving with me since they always would think I flip the car over or get into a wreck.

But once again that's just me and my expriences with my car. It's not like the Ford incidents happened to one or two people. This happened to a dozen or more people that I knew, friends in school and co-workers, that had these problems with their Fords. It's just one person experience against anothers.

P.S. Good grief that SUV looks like some gaudy monstrosity. Like the Hummers all over the place weren't enough. :P

A word in the defense of the Ford:

I own a Focus. Fire engine red. It is the only car I've ever owned, and I love it. I also know nothing about cars, so take this all with a grain of salt. However...

I have put about 25,000 miles on this thing in the last six months, including a 10,000 mile road trip this summer that took us from the midwest to the east cost to Texas to the west coast and back again. The only time I've had any troubles where I've taken my car in was when we hit Utah and the engine light came on for no reason. Bad sensor.

Things I have yet to repair or had diagnosed are:

One time, I couldn't get the gas pedal to work at a stop sign. Press it, the engine would go, but the car wouldn't, like it was out of gear or something. However, Ford is about to release a recall that sounds like it'll fix this, so no worries, especially since it only happened that one time and I've put another 15,000 miles on my car since then.

Some bad alignment in the back end. I heard other people complaining about this in the Focus while I was getting my oil changed. Tore the hell out of my tires, let me tell you. Just, I keep forgetting to have my future-mother-in-law's mechanic look at the danged thing when I'm visiting ^.^

So yeah, my car hasn't blown up. It runs. It gets me to my fiance's house and back in a weekend (900 miles). I'm happy.

As far as the newer models go, they make everything under the hood more compacted and so squished in that when something in the midst of the engine compartment breaks you have to have really small hands or take some of the parts off to get to a part that is broken.

As for that riding the car harder, I think Nem was refering to driving the car in a way that places a lot of wear on certain parts of the car, eg: riding the clutch will lead to the clutch needing replacement well before it should be needing a replacement.

Nice pic of the camaro Nem.

Ahhhhhhhhh....Thanks Rtor. I see now, makes more sense. It's just I have an automatic, my coordination is so bad I can't drive a manual. To complicated for my taste. :P.

What I meant is do they have Automatic or standard transmission because that can make all the difference. Also if you over do it with breaks you'll wear out the pads quickly, if you leave your car in unfavourable conditions you're only asking for problems, do they leave their lights on and drain the battery a lot because that can do a lot of damage, the type of fuel they use, and many more varibles like that can cause lots of damage to your engine.

Also, where do they drive it normally? City driving vs. highway driving does more than alter your gas mileage. Your car likes to go 60 MPH without stoping for long periods of time ^.^ This is probably why my car isn't falling apart at the seams now, all that mileage is highway driving.

That's why I guess cars don't last long in Toronto.. all that stop-and-go traffic.. Especially near my school. Oh man :P Still though, we all have our favourites.. we'e just more pro-Import here in Toronto. :)

With conditions here in NS you need a tougher car like a ford or chevy. Those wimpy little imports will break down so often you'll be crying for a nice north american vehicle

Well Toronto is a bigger city, with bigger roads. Now I haven't been to Halifax before, so I wouldn't know. I suppose Toronto's roads are little more friendy to Imports.

Saskatchewan highways are pretty bad. a lot of pot holes and really hard on the suspension and can get ugly if your driving a low rider.

Yeah we have the same problem, Salt and ice can really wear on the roads.

Yeah, but if they re-pave the roads the Saskatchewan, in combination with the flat Sakatchewan landscape, the highways there would make a great autobahn. :P I recall my family doing that when we drove through Sask. on our way to Edmonton. Had a Mercury Cougar at that time. Nice car that was.
