Trichon

"Sticks and Stones"

A disruptor blast zipped over Trichons head. It would just happen he would pick the smallest bit of cover for himself. He popped off and fired a random shot missing anything that remotely resembled a Romulan. Another one of there security officers hit the floor. There chance of escape was becoming slimmer by the second. There best hope was that the commander or hopefully another squad of marines would head in their direction. He looked down at the console he was at to see if he could find anything useful. His eyes came across what looked to be two metal rods connected to the deck plating......

Trichon hit the floor hard. He struggled to get to his feet as quickly as he could. "Okay I think I need a break."

"Break? You don't need a break Tric. You have to get this stuff down." the other man reached his hand down and helped Trichon up. "I mean you did say you wanted to learn some self defense didn't you."

"I know I did Chris. Its just sometimes I don't see the point."

"Lets take a break," the other man was dressed in a training gi and holding two wooden tonfas in his hand. He stood almost a head taller than Trichon and was very obviously half klingon by his dark complexion and ridges on his forehead. "So why don't you see the point?"

Chris and Trichon had been friends since Trichons freshman year. Chris was a upperclassmen when Trichon met him with a bad reputation for being a loner and having a mean streak in him. They had quickly become friends. Some people around the campus gave them the nickname the dynamic duo, others just plain called them trouble. Chris was notorious for picking fights with almost anyone, he was also one of the best fighters Trichon had ever seen.

"I am an engineer Chris. When am I ever going to need this stuff. Your the security officer not me."

"Your right I am in the security division, but lets go over a few basic points."

"Okay."

"All right. In case of a hostile boarding where are the 2 likely targets for the intruders to try and take?"

"The bridge and main engineering. Every one knows that you learn that in some of the basic courses."

"Okay so if your an engineer wouldn't it be wise that you do know some self defense in case of this situation?"

Trichon shrugged, "I guess but I was thinking more along the lines of phaser practice. Not sticks."

Chris nodded and took a drink of water, "A valid point, and why would anyone in there right mind fire phasers around a warp core?" A look of realization crossed over Trichons face.

"You wouldn't. It would then have to be logically close quarters combat."

"Thus the sticks. Once you can use the tonfas well you can use any type of object to disarm and disable an opponent. And I wont always be around to watch your back. So now that the breaks over lets get back to work. Afterwards we can head out and check out the ladies." Chris gave a sly grin at the last point.

"Okay. Lets get to work then." Trichon picked up his own tonfa's and they began to work the forms the wood clacking against each other......

Another disruptor bolt startled Trichon back to the present situation. He fired his phaser and severed the two metal rods from the deck plate and picked them up. He gripped one in each hand and readied himself. Now all he had to do was wait for a Romulan to get close enough so he could learn what all those long hours did for Trichon.
