"Alone...With Questions."

"To be alone is to be different, to be different is to be alone"- Suzanne Gordon

Where was everyone? Why didn't they answer?

The same question had remained for some time. So long in fact, that he had forgotten when it had started. The concept of time itself was something he still did not really understand. The question had taken up almost all of his effort as he sat waiting, wondering and afraid. Had he made another mistake? Had he forgotten something else? Would he ever see his parents again?

It was all because of that encounter with the other one. He had never seen such creatures before and it didn't concern him. They hadn't been his focus. He had greeted them but they had been violent. They had attacked him....hurt him! All he wanted was to be friends! That's what his parents had taught him! Be friendly with strangers so they won't think badly of you.

These creatures had not been this way. He had said hello but they had said something in words he didn't understand. Then, they had hurt him! It had not taken long to deal with the square they used, but that had been so long ago. So much had happened since then. He had succeeded in his mission...but forgotten where home was. Alas, he had remembered where an outpost of friends was! They would surely take him to see his parents. Yet, no one was there.

The situation had played out millions of times as he thought about them. Then, something changed. It was small and nothing he had seen before. Could it be friends looking for him? Would his despair vanish! He had run to greet them but...they didn't answer. They had stopped and just sat there, not saying anything. This was very confusing. Why would someone come to say hello but then not do so?

This new question started to fulfill him. But it was interrupted by the most unlikely of things...words! Yet, they didn't make sense. While clearly someone was speaking to him, they did not seem to be listening to him. The small one was rambling...it was...making no sense. Who was this and why did...

Then it happened. He had remembered! He had heard these words before! They had been spoken to him when he completed his mission! It was when he had left the blue and green world. The mission he had been sent on while on his way home after exploring! To find the friends no one had heard from. He had found them...but also something else. The rock they lived on had changed. There were...tiny creatures there too. They were everywhere...even in space!

For a while, when his friends couldn't be found, it was clear these tiny creatures were hiding them. Then, they had spoken! They were fine but there had been problems. They had explained the tiny creatures too. He didn't really understand but his parents would! So he had said goodbye....but he was now hearing those words!

How could that be? He had looked closely and they were not on the small one. He had never seen such a thing before...but...that was odd. The tiny ones...they looked like they were there. Maybe his friends had sent them to help? Yet they would not know of his problem. This did not make any sense. The tiny ones were here, but not on the same...what was going on?!?

Thinking of the conversation, he remembered what his parent's friends had told him. Could that still be the case? Maybe that was why they were not talking to him? Did they think he was still angry at them? What if he had done something to offend them? He couldn't afford to do that. They were the first he had seen...and might know where home was! He was tired of being lonely...tired of not seeing his parents. He didn't care if they weren't proud of him when he got home, he just wanted to see them again.

What could he have done to offend them? Perhaps being intrusive...oh his parents had spoken about that. Maybe then they would be nice...maybe then they would help.
