"Old Friends, Good Sources"

"Old Friends, Good Sources"

A Chris Trichon log

Chris sat in front of the monitor waiting the answer. It had been 8 hours since he had talked to him. This wasn't like him at all. He was never late especially when it came to a job. At that moment the screen flared to life......

8 hours earlier

Chris had managed to get a secure comm channel off the Excalibur to the colony on Hukara. The face that he was wanting to see appeared on his monitor. A small man with a grin like a serpent smiled back at him. "Well, well. If it isn't me old mate Crippler" his thick British sounding accent was almost nostalgic for Chris.

"Hey Peepers. So how is Hukara treating you?"

"Same as always. Law always one step behind ole Peepers, but look at you. All straight and narrow now. I heard you went and joined Starfleet after you got nicked." Peepers paused for a moment, "Didn't think it was the truth though. I thought to me self that old Crippler would never make it in Starfleet, but it seems you proved me wrong."

"I always did love proving you wrong Peepers."

"So any ways what brings you to Peepers. You wouldn't be talking to me unless you needed something with less than reputable origins huh. Need a case of Romulan Ale or something sent to you there?"

Chris grinned, "No I gave that stuff up. The real reason I am contacting you is that I need some information on 2 starfleet officers."

"Should be simple for you. You being Starfleet yourself and all."

"This is different Peepers. I need the stuff you cant find in there basic Fleet records. I need the dirt. I need the nasty little secrets they might be keeping, and if anybody can get that for me. Well that would be you."

"True enough. Peepers is the best when it comes to finding out things people don't want found. I tell you what Crippler just send me there names and I'll get you your info."

"I knew I could count on you Peepers. Just let me know what I can do for you sometime."

Peepers just shook his head, "Nope, after this job, me and you. We'll be square. You saved my hide from the law more than once when me and you ran together. Things just ain't been the same since you left Crippler. Heck most of the gang isn't even here anymore. I'll contact you in 8 hours with what you need."

And the face on the other side of the monitor wasn't Peepers. It was a very small man who was panicking. "Chris what the hell did you get us into?"

"Slow down there Carl," Chris was trying his best to calm him down. "What happened? Wheres Peepers?"

"He's dead Chris."

Chris fell into a silent shock. "How? What happened Carl?"

"We got the info you needed and were on our way back when we got jumped by these goons. They were not the normal looking type of thugs either. All black suits and stuff. We tried to run but they got Peepers and started after me. He wanted to make sure you got what you needed. I am sending the data now."

"Carl you have to get out of there now." Chris leaned over and checked the incoming data. At least Peepers had thought ahead and had the data encrypted.

"No time Chris. I hear them now. Gotta go...." the screen died and Chris knew that another one of his friends was dead. He quickly transferred the data to a PADD and erased it from everything else. He knew he had to get this info to the commander. Whatever was in those files he would want to see, because whatever was in those files was worth killing for.
