Hurry Up and Wait

Andrea Knlwtchr turned and placed a foot where she had just removed it. Her pacing had picked up alittle in the last couple of minutes and she could tell it was beginning to get to the Ship's Captain. But she just couldnt help it. For it was the Captain's decision making that had caused this lump in her throat.

The Counselor poised for a moment during a silent moment on the bridge and considered him again.

"Captain, I..."

But the lump seized her breathing and caused her to lose her train of thought. She knew how to formulate the words she was dying to express, but her throat just wouldnt let the words come out. She blinked and looked away from Moose's anticipatory gaze.

The Captain only waited with that patience only a leader possesses. Andrea caught a glimmer in his eye and a thought flashed through her mind. What was he thinking at that moment? Why had he let his First Officer go off on a mission to the Coalition Ambassador so shortly after her latest episode? And why oh why had he done so without making sure she had a visit to their friendly local head shrink?

The Junior Lieutenant waved away Captain Moose in an apologetic manner and continued in her pacing. Nor was she glad for the distraction with ships goings-on soon after. The words were still swirling in her head. The actions she wanted to take for Commander Dac were still holding on the screen of the PADD resting in the crook of her arm. And there wasnt a darn thing she could do about any of it until this mission was over.

That seemed to be the norm aboard the Arcadia. Everything of emotional and psychological importance had to wait until the mission was completed. Andrea looked toward the entryway of the bridge and wondered why that was? In her opinion, her job should take precedence over any missional pursuit, considering the importance of mental and emotional stability requirements for such actions. Lt. Knlwtchr made a mental note to bring this notion up to her Captain and First Officer the first chance she had.

Andrea blinked and snapped out of her trance. She realized that an ensign had picked up the PADD she had let slip off her arm and was trying to hand it back.

"Counselor?"

The young scientist furrowed his brow. "Are you alright?" Then he leveled the PADD for her.

Andrea only released a long sigh.

"I will be, Ensign. I will be."
