Another sim idea

Maybe it's because i have nothing else better to do with my life but i have come up with another idea for a sim. This one would be based on a Prometheus
class vessel, U.S.S. Prometheus
to be exact. The premise is, a crew is assigned to the first Prometheus
class ship, and seeing as how it's a prototype it's not exactly up to par. They go out on the shake-down cruise and find an insane amount of problems with the ship. Not so much that it can't fight of course, just think of the Enterprise
in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, how it looked like it was "put together by monkeys". Anyway, there of course would be missions where only the Prometheus
would be in range, you know junk like that. Probably some more stuff too i just can't think of it right now. Anyway just another mind numbing thought from MysteryGoat.

True, but in just about every way that mattered the NCC-1701A was identical to NCC-1701, and had a crew that was already familiar with that class of ship.

When we saw the Prometheus in one episode it had no crew, 1 EMH (played by Andy Dick   ;) ), and was experimental even then.  Is there really enough info to base a sim on?

Hey there,

I do know of a few games who have used this class of ship. However, many of them report there are often problems. You must have a very large roster or else you can't use the feature people like to use, the seperation. You must have enough people to "crew" all three sections and that's often hard.

Well you could always start a staff roster and once you get enough people then you could start the sim. Also don't forget that the Multi Vector Assult Mode (MVAM) could be automated. I also have thought of some modifications to make it more of a work-able ship.

Think?!  You mean we're supposed to think around here?

(We can't have any of that thinkin' stuff going on 'round here.  This look like a school or something?)

Besides, in combat is when you need to think the most!

Come on p i know you wanna play it don't lie.

Hey there,

So let me get this straight. You want to have a ship full of nothing but security officers? That will get kind of boring after awhile.

I dont think he meant it that way FredM, he just wanted me to sign on to his idea me thinks....

But as for a ship full of security officers...hmmm..I can imagine in TOS...the whole ship full of redshirts...I wonder how long that vessel would even last....I wouldn't say it would be boring.....rather..quick myself. I'm wondering if the name of the vessel would be USS Future Morgue.

As to a Prometheus Class Vessel being a platform for a sim..I think that would be very challenging. A) Creating an agreeable rulebook for the ship, B)Limiting the use of MVAM (it would be complicated to sim three friendly vessels..even when you have pre-programmed attack patterns which you would have to describe...C) somehow keeping a ship on shakedown out of combat.
