Your favourite anime series?

I noticed some anime (Japanese animation) fans out here, so I was wondering what's your favourite series? You probably know mine is Inuyasha, great action scenes, characters and storylines. Evangelion, an anime classic is a close second. I purchased the entire series (Evangelion), and I must it was well worth it. :lol: You can also discuss your favourite series here too.

I find most Anime predictable and the same thing as any other anime series.

 

Key to Anime,

 

Girls in School girl uniforms

Large pupils in their eyes because it attracts members of the opposite sex

And a lot of violence

 

The only anime I like is the original stuff like

 

Speed Racer and Astro Boy

 

now they were just classic :lol:

I knew I forgot to add something.. yeah, Speed Racer's cool. It may be about 30 years old, but it mixes my two top interests-- cars and animes. So I watch it whenever I can on Speed Channel.

Seeing as I grew up with Speed Racer back in the late '60's, I'll have to go with that one. I know my kids used to watch Sailor Moon and Yugiho a few years back, but luckily, those fads have passed as well. I'll have to check with them to see what they are watching nowadays.

Yeah, well.. I knew alot of people that liked it, and I like the movie too. (I have it on DVD). Racer X was one of my favourite Speed Racer characters too.. so mysterious.

I'd don't know about the series, because I haven't seen it, but I do like my Cowboy Bebop movie, it had a good story line and lots of action. Plus, I got a good deal in it Only $30 +tax (Canadian). $1 CAN = about $0.78 US. You can do the math. :)

Now, before you folks start thinking I named my character after an Anime, I refer you to a 1965 Japanese film called "Kaitei Gunkan" or, in English, "Atragon." That is the genesis of the name. The Anime guys stole the name and ship design from this film.

The show is really really hard to follow. Like most of it doesn't make all that much sense...WAIT its Anime....NM

 

at least they canned "Blue Gender" on Cartoon Network, so i guess Cowboy Bebop does have its good points becuase it took it's place.

 

The one i am wondering where is on the list is "The Big O"

Yeah, they made a movie.. it's in Japanese with english subtitles, but is relatalively easy to follow. Though, I am wondering what Blue Gender and Big O is?

As for TOS, despite the fact that I'm in the Hood, I could never really get into it as much as I got into TNG, or Voyager. I only watched about 5-10 full episodes, and maybe half of about another 10. ::ducks to escape the wrath of Huff and the majority of his fellow STSF simmers:: I still think Speed Racer's cool though, not as cool as Inuyasha or Evangelion, but still..

Edit: Man, I can't believe noone voted for Evangelion yet, that's widely considered one of the best anime series ever made. Jeez, even Yugioh has a vote. :)

The Big O is actualy not all that bad, it doesn't follow the normal formula as nem discussed earlier. Its not even hard core anime. I actually think it is an Americanized show the produced for Japan.

How the heck did they translate "Kaitei Gunkan", whatever that means in Japanese, into a non-existant English word?

Yeah, other than Astro Boy, Speed Racer, and Patlabor I can't say I'm too familiar with older anime series.. perhaps you can elaborate on that series? I'm more of a fan of the newer anime series. :)
