2003 Movie Disappointments

Last summer I think I spent more time at the movies than any summer previously. There were some good things, and some disappointments. By "disappointments" I also mean movies that were good movies but just not worth all the hype that went into them.

So here are my pics:

* X-Men 2: An OK movie, but not worth all the hype. Plus they killed off Hally Berry!

* Terminator 3: A so-so movie. Some good action scenes but it didn't have the humor of T2, and the actor playing Connor just sucked. Also, James Cameron didn't direct this one which I think made a big difference.

* The Matrix: Revolutions: A bit harder to follow than the other Matrix movies. Didn't really have the excitement of Reloaded or the freshness of the original. And they never explained how Agent Smith learned how to fly or how we know the machines will keep their word about the truce at the end.

* Freddy vs. Jason: I've been waiting since the early 80s for this movie to come out, and it ended in a TIE? No fair!!

In no particular order:

1. Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throtle. - No storyline, and looked cheesy. Though I do enjoy dem catfights and bikinis.

2. Matrix: Revolutions - Really not what I expected.. they didn't explain too much about anything, like Dumbass stated. Plus there was only one good fight scene. Ugh..not worth the $7 I paid to see it.

Gotta disagree. I thought Revolutions was a good ending to the trilogy, balancing the mind-bending of the first with the mindless fighting of the second to create a satisfying conclusion. And I also loved that the ending was not all happy (actually I could have done without the cute kid and the Oracle scene right at the end) and left us with questions -- like would the machines keep their word and for how long? But frankly I'd be more concerned with the Architect keeping his word to the Oracle. As for Smith flying, that's pretty much a given for someone who was effectively running the entire Matrix at that point. He could give himself whatever abilities he wanted, really, and the only surprise is that Neo stood up to him as well as he did.

Lord Of The Rings: Return of The King. Anyone who reads the book know my beefs with the film.

I gots to agree with Laura on this. I thought that Revolutions was a great way to end the trilogy. And to Van: Your not really suposed to know why Smith flys 'n stuff. You could state, that since he absorbed the oracle, and every one else, having that much raw power would grant it.

Neo even states in the movie that Smith himself has grown beyond the control of the machines, and was threatining to leave the Matrix, and reek havoc in the machine main frame. Obviously he had some serrious power, so it just comes naturall that he'd fly...I guess.

And as to the truce on the end...I would of hated a LOTR ending...not that I didnt like the rings ending, I just dont think a half an hour epolouge would work for the Matrix you know? The entire feel of the movie, that...holding on for survival, everyday could be the last feel, wouldnt have gone at all with a happy, machine and human superduper freindship at the end. Your ment to believe that the machines still want to get rid of the humans, and that their only really doing it because they own 'em one.

And as for the questions that I've heard other places about the oracle, that they dont understand...well actually you have to play the game to get the whole storry...just an atempt to get you to pay more money on the francise but whatever.

The little girl program thing, what ever, her parents...or creators...or something...had to sort of buy her into the Matrix, through the French dude (cant even atempt to spell his name) He states in the movie he wants the oracles eyes, and also in the game it shows that he's got something against her, and anyways to get the girl in...she like had to sacrifice he shell, the body that represents her or something like that.

Well now I've put in too many cents, and I wants to make a pizza, so yeah...happy movie critizing gents.

Three of the most disappointing movies I saw were The Hulk, The League of Extraudinary Gentlemen, and Daredevil.

I thought that the Hulk lacked a plot the effects were great but the TV show starring the late Bill Bixby and Lou Ferringno was much better.

I disliked The League of extraudinary Gentlemen because I thought that some of the characters were....well....dumb. For one thing Mr.Hyde could easily have been Frankenstein's monster if they wanted to use a computer animated image. The idea of Mr. Hyde going around London wearing a cape over his torn clothes and carrying a cane and that rediculous top hat is moronic. Then there was Dorian Gray, where did they get the idea that he couldn't look at his portrait? if they had read the novel or even seen the movie they'd of none that Gray spent hours looking at his degenerating portrait. At the beginning of the movie I thought the villan was going to be the Phantom of the opera, but instead it was Dr. Moriarity, where was Sherlock Holmes,or at least Dr. Watson? The only character I actually liked was Tom Sawyer G-man.

Then there was Daredevil, I hope if there is another movie they get another actor to play the part and I hope they get rid of the leather outfit and replace it with spandex. Well that as breifly as I can put it are three of my movie disappointments.
