Duty Log and Personal Log: Stardate 20401.04

Duty Log

Brian Graham

Assistant Security

USS Excaliber

The Excaliber has returned to the Terran system and is now docked and under lockdown. Admiral Day and Captain J'cin have been taken into custody.

Commander Neo has been temporarilly placed in command of the ship.

Ensign Kara Midanyl and I have been secretly working on a possible way of clearing the Admiral and Captain of all charges. We have been going over computer logs on the whereabouts of the visiting scientists before the accident. One scientist had been engaging in suspicious activities, and Ensign Midanyl and I are preparing to investigate this matter further...

***Personal Log***

These recent events have been quite disturbing for me lately, however I suspect I am not the only one affected by recent happenings. If this new lead proves fruitful the Admiral and Captain would be surely be aquitted, however I cannot fathom why a scientist would want to destroy an entire system and civilization, and destroying himself and his collegues in the process. What motive could someone have to committ such an act. I can only hope that this investigation will yield the anwers I, and Starfleet, are looking for. I will not accept negligence as the cause of this catastrophe.

I am also reflecting on how quickly my life has come full circle. Only recently had I graduated the Academy and been posted to a ship, and now less that a month later I find myself back in the Terran system. At any other time, this would seen comical, however the circumstances are less than adequate for such a feeling.
