The Manticore was investigating a black hole when it was pulled too close to the event horizon. The ship was pulled into a temporal displacement field and finds itself 5,000 years in the past. To make matters worse, the stresses of the trip created a damaging EPS feedback wave from the Warp engines, causing further damage to the main core and the cloaking systems and leaving us running on a finite supply of liquid Deuterium for all systems. We need to avoid all contact with ancient mankind to keep our temporal pollution to a minimum, yet we may need some basic components and materials from the Earth.
