PRIORITY ONE COMMUNIQUE

Within the last forty-eight hours (Starfleet standard), it has become obvious a force of unknown size and motive has initiated hostile forces along the far boarder of Cardassian space.

 

Attacks comprising of unknown numbers of vessels have engaged numerous targets on the fringe of explored space and the Cardassian border. Movement of this attacks has been calculated to be on a path close to or perhaps intersecting the Cardassian Star System. This path seems retroactive to unknown alien vessels which were seen departing this area upon inspection after the completion of the Cardassia evacuation.

 

Station Gamma 6, the farthest reaching space port within the Cardassia's southwestern quadrant, has been destroyed. The Vanden, Orias, Kelvas and Dopa star systems have been attacked. Contact was lost with all and it is presumed colonies on those planets have either been destroyed or lost all electrical power. The Sarpedion star system transmitted a declared a systemwide emergency two hours ago. Communications was lost fifty-five minutes ago.

 

Task Force 34, patrolling this region and sent to investigate the lack of communication with Station Gamma 6, was attacked at 02:00 yesterday. The last transmission from this group of ships was reported to Starfleet HQ at 03:10. The U.S.S. Churchill, U.S.S. Gorkon, U.S.S. Polaris and U.S.S. Rigel have been destroyed. Meanwhile, the contact with the U.S.S. Bozeman was lost at 03:10 and is presumed destroyed. Status of survivors is unknown.

 

While no solid information was transmitted, some sensor data was sent by the U.S.S. Bozeman and U.S.S. Polaris before communications were lost. Energy signatures from attacking vessels have been found to match those of the ship which attacked Sky Harbor Aegis in the Cardassia system two days ago. This information suggests solid evidence these attacks are part of a coordinated effort, perhaps the launch of a second wave or front.

 

All Starfleet and Federation facilities within the above stated sectors are hereby ordered to full tactical alert. Probability of attacks against installations is high. Immediate security measures are recommended and evacuations, where appropriate, should be conducted.
