I'm new, confused and un-confused

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this and played my first sim tonight. I've Role Played before, but nothing like this where it is entirely online. It's definitely different!

I've developed a character, S'Ralov. He is half Caitian and Half human. I've created a bio for him, but could use help on this. It's not done, just getting started. Especially since I just stared. :)

Well, here it is:

Rank: Cadet

Current Assignment: Starfleet Academy

Full Name: S’Ralov

Date of Birth: September 14

Age: 17

Species: Caitian/Human

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 145 Terran Pounds

Place of Birth: San Francisco, US

Parents: Unknown, was left at Starfleet medical within hours after birth with his name on a message pad lying in the blankets with him. He carries the message pad with him to this day.

Siblings: None Known

Education: Current Student at Starfleet Academy

Marital Status: Single

Children: None

Fur Color: His fur, that covers his entire body, is Orange w/ white stripes. Not like a tigers it’s a very mellow light orange that mixes with the white through out and the white mixes with the orange making for very indistinct stripes. His tail, which is easily concealed, is only half the size of a normal full Caitian’s.

Eyes: Odd for a Caitian, he has Blue Eyes that are not as cat like as a Caitian, but almost human. Showing emotion through them as humans do.

Distinguishing Marks: S’Ralov looks very much Caitian, but unlike full Caitians, he does not have a full mane. It extends only to his shoulders. His face is a slightly more human than most Caitians with almost no muzzle and his ears are almost completed hidden beneath his mane. He has a single scar that runs from the beginning of his left thumb up to his elbow. This happened in a fight as a teenager. No fur grows across the scar, but other fur fills in to almost fully hide it.

Because his only half-Caitian his hearing, eyesight, and sense of smell are not as good as full Caitians, but still remain much better than normal humans. He also has an easier time with English being half human and having been raised with it as his first language.

Background: S’Ralov is a newcomer to Starfleet. Growing up in an orphanage in San Francisco he grew to know Starfleet very young and made that career choice. Due to problems with students in school and being unable to identify himself he was given the nickname “Tasmanian Devil” which has since been shortened to “Taz”. This was due to his reckless ambition and his constant fights. At 17 he has calmed down tremendously during his first year at Starfleet Academy, and though he no longer lives up to his original nickname of “Taz” it has stuck as being easier for humans.

All characters in an Academy are human in an academy just because its really confusing because there is not much time for personal development like that, but of course save that bio for after you graduate its very well written and interesting. Now also you should read moose's tips and prehaps some old sim logs Academy and Advanced also you should attend an advanced sim like the Excalibur at 10pm Est tomorrow which I suggest for it being closest to today. If you are younger and still in normal school you know you have a bedtime then I would suggest: the Excalibur, the Reant(sp), and the Aegis.

Now if not restricted by time restraints then I would just tell you be very careful in ship selection because they all have their own qualities but you have to be a sim structure that fits you. Are you more relaxed or need stricyt guidelines in your character because some ships some people will fit right in while on other ships people don't fit in quite as well and it takes them awhile to do so.

Now again welcome to STSF I hope your stay is a long happy one and do go to some events like the Red Star Night Club or prehaps even the Arcadian birthday party this week at wednesday for you to meet its colourful crew to see if you can blend within its ranks :) hope to see you around :)

Actually, that is not an absolute rule. There are some academies where the GMs ask everyone to play a human for ease of simplay, but it is not a mandate. In many of them, you can play a non-human - but you just may not have an opportunity to add the non-human aspects to your role playing in the short time available during an academy sim.

True true but you got to be a real flesh and blood and biological organism. Gm don't allow holograms or something i can't what it was.

Just a note here... what you play while in the Academy itself is not important. ;)

The most important thing is to demonstrate that you have the skills and abilities the GMs are looking for. Once you are promoted, you will work with your individual CO/XO team on your Advanced Sim on your character's biography.

Good luck and welcome to STSF. :(
