Well I said "pretty good". I would have said "excellent" but, with the exception of the Borg, pretty much all the plot naratives were used in All Good Things - time travel, promotions, mental illness, new technology, etc.

Every Voyager episode has mental illness they have Neelix hehehe. I found it a horrible way to end it left far too many loop holes and didn't show Torres' baby and they should've :)

Hey there,

As I remember saying at the time to several friends, Endgame was something of a disappointment but also a success.

Voyager's writing didn't actually start to hold some water until Season 5. From that point on, 80% of the episodes were quality Star Trek. Of course there were still a few "Jeri Ryan must be Queen" type shows, but overall there was a good story and good acting.

Endgame brought to light three problems. First, it focused again on the total destruction of the "character" we know as the Borg. This was a force that destroyed 40 starships with a single cube. A force that was bent on the destruction of mankind. They took all individuality and acted as a collective group...the greater good above anyone. Something so feared, if they appeared on your screen during TNG you sat back and said "Oh damn..." I mean, for those who saw it before reruns, remember the total jaw dropping of Locutus and what he did? That was just...totally shocking.

Yet Voyager seemed to complete destroy all that had been built. The Borg were now some force that one single destroyer styled ship could eliminate. You don't need 40 starships...just call in Janeway. But wait...there's more! The reason it took the Borg so long to get to Earth was they were stupid! After all, they had a transwarp hub that put them right in Earth's orbit! Guess that drone lost the control panel when they first tried to attack. Oh! But I forgot...they didn't attack Earth because their leader...a Queen Borg...somehow had a mother type care for one drone out of the billions she controls. So, she decided not to attack. Excuse me?

The Borg were so destroyed that it wasn't until Star Trek: Enterprise came around with their episode dealing with the "drones" on Earth that I was able to sit back and actually say "Oh damn!" Archer's line of "That means we've just delayed them for what...200 years or so?" added such a new dynamic to the story. They did in one episode what Voyager couldn't do in 7 years.

Yet Voyager ended going to...you guessed it...the Borg. Then we have this timetravel thing. But we're not supposed to think about the obvious fact that since Voyager got home in 7 years vs 15, Janeway wouldn't have gone back in time. That would mean the episode couldn't have happened which would mean...and mean....I have a headache. :)

Finally, Endgame never answered any of the questions they'd been building up to in Season 5 - 7....ever since the reintroduction of the "character" of Starfleet. What happens to the Maquis? How does the Voyager crew see Earth different...after all, they just recovered from two wars? What happens to the ship? Seven of Nine? The Borg teenager? The EMH?

The only thing we eventually learn is Janeway's now an Admiral. Well, that's another headache for another time. :/

Well as Janeway her self stated don't even attempt to explain temporal physics.

Now there is also the theory brought in by TNG with the differant worlds that separate with every decision you make, now you can tie this in with time travel for time is thought to not be linear and there is time happening all at the same time and affecting the past may not affect your present but someone else's present and future and not your own.

I think Nem is on to something here. While time is not linear, human beings are only capable of experiencing it in a linear fashion - hence Janeway's constant confusion. In fact the only races I know of that don't have to observe time in a linear fashion are El Aurians and Borg (probably because they assimilated some El Aurians).

You can't forget about the Prophets and Q because they basically didn't live in linear time they lived outside of time and space :D

Almost every season of Voyager ended with the borg or one of the borg species.

Endgame was pretty good, but it could have used a little less time travel, the entire thing turns into an in-escapable loop where none can escape. And technically speaking, it never even happened, so voyager should still be with the borg. :D But otherwise, goodish plot, didn't like the romance much. And good fight scenes, really brought out the characters deep traits.

Tuvok's loyalty, Harry's nobleness, Tom's softness and determination. Janeway's logic and pure testosteroine pills. And the the best... The giving up on home, to hurt the borg.

They did too show Torres' and Paris' baby. It was at the END of the episode.

Yeah I know that Pitty but I mean in better detail they play up this pregnancie all through the season and end it like that come on thats just cruel. How they left Neelix on that asteriod although I hated Neelix was stupid too because where are they going to get their food look at that time when he died they couldn't even make toast. They made too many mistakes in those last few episodes pretty much ruined that season for me not enough to it.
