Thanksgiving

34 posts in this topic

I will be working from 4-10pm in the jewelry section of a retail store.. in complete terror as customers rip me to shreds for 14KT gold hoop earrings... at 70% off. WAH!

Then I'll eat cold turkey, go to sleep and have nightmares about Black Friday.

Yep. I'm thankful.

I have a funny story about TurDuckIn.

One year 2 of my professors decided that for the department holiday party they would have a cooking war. One professor went on and on for several weeks about how good the TurDuckIn he was making would be. I forget what the other professor made. These two professors were well known around campus as being excellent chefs so us hungry students were eager to try their food.

Well, the night before the event both professors/chefs were busy preparing their recipies - or so we thought. While one of them spent all night cooking the one making the TurDuckIn just decided to go to the KFC down the street, bought a bucket of chicken, and put a sign on it saying "TurDuckIn". Man, that prof who stayed up all night had a dirty look on his face for a week! :D

I was an Economics major at San Jose State University. The professor who pulled that joke taught Money & Banking and Intermediate Microeconomics. I'm sure he taught other classes as well but those were the ones I had him for.

Unfortunately he died of a heart attack (while in the middle of cooking) about a year ago. He was only 51. He had more students and former students at his funeral than everyone else combined.

That sucks it reminds me of when my grade 8 science teacher and family friend died and he had 2 seperate funeral visitings because there were so many students and former students. He also just turned 51. :D

Any holiday centered around food gets a giant thumbs up in my book. What could be better? Okay, food and gifts! But just food runs a close second.

I cooked for one billion people at my house and then we spent the next two days (as I predicted) lying in front of the fireplace. When anyone reached the point of being able to move, I was armed with a turkey/baked potato soup to put them back out again.
