It was decided that, at least for now, STSF does not need a group newsletter. Perhaps sometime in the future, STSF will get one, but don't count on it being soon.

For the record, Commlink still exists for all sims on the Internet. It is no longer sim independant.

Yes, the idea of a newsletter has come up before. However, it was realized that there is very little that an STSF newsletter can provide that isn't already being accomplished in these Boards. There are ship updates, Forum news, general chit chat and specific discussions of Trek and simming.

That is why STSF is not looking to start a Newsletter in the near future. Thanks.

Why have a newsletter when you can get all the info here at STSF. It's just one (or two) clicks away. (if you have it bookmarked)

Wow, I agree with A9...man this has been a weird month...

Any nothing to Earth shaterring happens here any way, except when Garn joins another ship (sorry couldnt resist) And if something does happen, it's not frequent enough to warrant a news letter.

Nothing really happens from week to week that should be sent in an email to every member of STSF... A monthly newsletter might work, but then again, wheres the need? Like A9 said, anything that does happen usually ends up on the boards (like Fred's coconut bra picture)

It's a great idea, and it would work if we had a lot more events out side of simming here, but we dont, anything that happens, ususally happens when the Manticore runs into the Reaent during a demo derby.

Yeah, it's odd, my ranting makes sense, I think something happened thanks giving, I work up in a pink teeshirt that wasnt mine, and one of my female coworkers keeps touching me...Now if only I could remeber it, it's probably the most important thing thats happened to me in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, November's one screwed up month!

I agree there is never anything really new happening here ever look how long it took for the news page to be updated. There could be some sort of mission summaries page for cadets though but that would be too much work then anyone has time for except me but I'm too lazy :D

Exactly. The purpose of the boards is to support an online roleplaying game. The action, events, and exciting news happens within those games, and any of that news can be found through the ship boards, really.

And for those special events outside of the games, like dressing up and toying with Fred, we have no problem creating special board topics as they arise. There's no point recreating the information (or stretching and adding garbage to get enough new things) for a monthly or weekly format, simply for the sake of having one. If you want a weekly publication, sort your board posts by date and read them once a week... Doh! ;)

Is this really a special event? I thought messing with Fred was an everyday thing.
