A night in Sickbay

The rythmic beeps of the biobed were almost soothing to Chris. He had escaped from the sickbay once in the dark and it proved to be more harmful than helpful. It had seemed like he had gotten a bit of radiation sickness and he would have to spend a night in sickbay to fully recover. There was something about sickbay that always seemed to rattle him a bit. Chris never quite understood why. It was probably as a child his father was always threatened him. When he was younger and had traveled on the terraforming ship with his father some of the punishment he had received at the hands of his father were a bit worse than the other times. He had been told that if he told the doctors what had really happened that they wouldn't believe him at all, that they would run all sorts of experiments on him because he was a "dirty half breed". For the longest time Chris had believe him too. Never wanting to see a doctor at all.

Even after being in Starfleet for these last few years he really didn't trust them. Of course he really didn't trust many people at all. Paranoia was a trait that he had due to his father. After running away he had taken a long time before he trusted anyone again. It wasn't until that young starfleet officer had turned his whole life around. One person had taken time to actually help Chris instead of pushing him aside because he was a half breed. Ever since than he trusted people a bit more, but was always wary of them at first. Thats why security was so perfect for him. If anything that sense of paranoia only helped him in his job.

A young nurse walked over to Chris and checked his vitals and then left him. So far this assignment was going pretty decent. He had seen more action in the few weeks he had been aboard than his entire two years aboard the space station. The worse thing he had ever had to deal with there was a small bar fight, and bar fights were something that Chris had plenty of experience with during his wild academy days.

His "wild" days. There were moments during those days that would haunt him for the rest of his life. His nasty klingon temper always threatened to rear its ugly head. Sometimes he hated his heritage but there were certainly advantages to being half klingon. Someday he might even have to find out what it truly meant to be a klingon, but that would have to wait. If he was going to get back to duty anytime soon he would have to rest. The doctor, what was her name? Chris remembered that she had said her name was Brianna. That was it Brianna. The doctor had been very adamant about him resting and not leaving before someone had told him he could leave. He focused on the rythmic beeps of the biobed and started to relax, before long he fell asleep.
