When ya'll are in an academy or advanced sim, what uniform does your mind see everyone in?

Is it the classic TOS style? Full colored shirts? Or is it the design like in the movie "Nemisis"?

Poll on in, and then post why.

I personally voted for Voyager, I like their uniform designs, not to much color, but not to little.

I like the TNG movie ones.  They just look a little warmer and sturdier.

It IS the official uniform.  The only reason Voyager used their own is because their tailor was in the Delta Quadrant too.

Personally, I like the Voyager uniforms.  Although the later DS9/TNG movie ones grew on me, I always thought it was a bit too departmentally indistinct, and led to a lot of staring at people's necks. :-)

And it would be more strictly accurate to say that the only reason Voyager used its own was that they didn't get the memo changing the uniform... which happened in what, Voyager's second season?

Actually, the Voyager uniforms were the official uniforms of DS9 before they got the new ones which are used in the movies. :: Chuckles :: So, their tailors just happened to be in the alpha quadrant.

I never did understand though that why when Voyager finially contacted Starfleet, why they didn't change to the new uniforms. Probabaly to expensive for the show's producers and paramount.

I try to see the TNG/movie uniforms, although occasionally backtrack to the older TNG ones.  Mostly because Arcadia is a Sovereign class and it just makes sense to have the latest in Starfleet fashion. But, then again, I've watched so much TNG, it's hard not to have the image embedded in my head :-)

You forgot to include a category for the red uniforms in ST II-VI.   :)

Star Trek TNG was my favorite personally.  :)  I started with that series, so in my heart, THAT is the "original series".

Hey there,

As someone mentioned, you didn't include what I still consider the best and most realistic uniforms ever featured on Star Trek...those between Star Trek II and Star Trek VI. If I had to choose one, that would be it. :)

However, since that wasn't on the poll, I did select the TNG uniform. I'd have to say it would need to be the later seasons version however...I pray men will never swear skirts like in TNG Season 1.  :dead:

Ok, ok, I can see I'm getting yelled at for not carrying the movie ones from ST II - ST VI.

I was only including uniforms that had been in a series, besides, I think all the movie ones from ST II - ST VI were weird anyways.   :)

It could be worse.  We could have been stuck with the Star Trek: The Motion Picture uniforms.   :)

Hey there,

No...go look at TNG Season 1. Especially some of the first episodes. You'll see men running around in the "dress/skirt" uniform style most females had on (like Counselor Trio in the beginning). It was....I can't keep the thought in my head....

AHHHHHHHH

I think the mini-skirts from TOS should be mandatory for all the female crewmembers.   ::):

I like the DS9 and TNG Movie Uniforms. They just look a little more "official" than any of the others. :-)

I really like the TOS movie uniforms. Look at the intricate details into the Rank insignia designed, the tunics, jackets, etc.

That design show's they put a lot of time and effort into making a very unique uniform. It sure beats tossing on pants and a shirt. The TNG series uniforms went back to that old approach but with a twist.

I imagine that since the movie productions had the bigger budgets, they could elaborate on more detail. But, when they went a nd did the TNG series, they wanted to focus more on the characters and simplified the uniforms and insignias so we could better recognize them.

When I'm simming, I image the current style (The Ranger being TNG movie based). But, to vote on what design I like the best overall, I'm all over the TOS movie design.

It just looks like a more believable uniform than all the others.

Found another one...

>>Sorry, wasn't aware that re-opening these old topics was taboo, my apologies<<

I've always been the most fond of the Voyager unis. Many of the other uniforms say to me: "Hello, I am a uniform designed to look pretty for a TV series, not for productive real life use." The Voyager unis look comfortable and like something you'd be able to wear everyday to do a variety of tasks.

Funny how Fred was scared of those early TNG man-skirts.

I just dont understand it from a design point. How are you supposed to get anything done in them? You cant bend over!
