Chat room problem?

ya with me it'll load but it takes like five minutes when it only used to take only ten seconds is it because the serves are warming up again or is it my comp or gateway

I have asked the folks at StarTrek.com to look into this problem ASAP.  As soon as I find out any information, I will pass it along.  Thanks for your patience while they figure this out.

Well, the applet loads for me now, but everytime it tries to enter the room it says "connection to the server has been dropped". I'll keep trying...

What happens to me sometimes is it will lock me out, but it will keep my chat name as a "ghost".  As long as that ghost name is up I can't log in as that name.

hehehe - If all else fails, I have two different Chat rooms on my server that STSF could use. (Although I would need to be told... etc.) :)  For all I care..... you could use it as a back-up STSF Holodeck (just in case the ST.com Holodeck acts up again.) Perhaps (even if you don't use mine ;)) the GM's should still search for another place to chat, for if the Peoplelink server ever goes down again. Just a thought....

If they do not resolve the problem in the next day or so, I will install some sort of chat script on our site that we can use tempoarily (though it will NOT be pretty), or we could all just use AIM rooms for a couple of days.

 

But either way, we'll figure out something.

ya well maybe just have one whole sim on msnmessanger or use the chats like webmaster said i hope they will speed up soon cause it took me 1/2 an hour to get in the holodeck last night ask fred it's royally peeving people off!!!!  ;)

Well the chat room is still having problems. I was unable to get in for the Reaent sim last night, and it took several people that made it in 15 minutes to get there. If PeopleLink can't get this fixed soon and easily, I would think a backup chat room would be a very good idea.

Durn it, I was looking forward to joining at the scheduled time tonight but it looks like it's not going to work.  Is there any other way to join?

Actually, it seems that, for the most part, the Holodeck chat room is working just like it's old self... with the "ghosts" that they spent an entire month to get rid of, still being there. :o I believe that there is only one ghost now, versus about 7 or 8 we always did have; ens_loami . :D

Hey folks. I just tried getting into the holodeck today and it worked!

 

So I'll see if it works for me tonight so I can play an academy game. Not sure. Hopefully I'll be there.

 

Did PeopleLink fix their problems or am I just getting "lucky" today?

Seem to be, Vanroy, but not as bad. :o It looks like to me that Peoplelink took their servers offline, and to a "barely working" status for a month to fix a problem that ended up not being fixed....

Looks like the ghost of my former self lives on in PeopleLink's memory.  Except that I've been seeing suberance on 24hrs a day now... was there a Star Trek episode about this? :-)

I t just happened to me. The funny thing is that I can get into the Holodeck and the Ready room but I cant get in the Lounge. I have cleared files 3 times.

alright this isnt really a problem but more like a suggestion for the gm's to make to paramount about the chatrooms in the chat rooms there should be a bar for font size and espeacially color because for some people remembering all that code to put in your sentence before your actual sentence is really bothersome. and also due to that takes to long to type in what you want to say. it would just make the sim to go along much smoother forf the people who arent computer programers and arent fast typers just a suggestion thats actually quite inteligent thanks everyone for hearing me out!!!!

Yes, there are many things that could jazz up the Holodeck room, but Paramount is somewhat limited by what their vendor, PeopleLink, can provide.  I will let them know of the suggestions presented and ask them to keep them in mind if they decide to make any changes to their chat rooms.  Thanks!
