We pick up where we left off. Scans have detected something "floating" in the gas giant. Ship? Cargo container? Space Junk?

Can we get a positive guess where the object is now?

Down. About a kilometer beneath the ... surface? and falling.

Or what the computer recognizes as the surface based on our usual usage with gas planets.

Confirmed ::pulls up the trajectory:: Here's the trajectory.

"I am uncertain how deep we can go."

Seems to be bobbing up and down.

Can we predict when it might reach it's highest apogee?

We can have the computer make its best guess.

We'll see if we can catch it as close as possible to get some good scans. Then we can decide if it's worth taking a closer look at. Rather not test this things crush depth just yet.

It would seem to be a more intense test than most go through in their shakedown cruise.

"I recommend going in fast and getting out the same."

I was considering that too, a close fly-by. Keep enough momentum to get out. Though drag forces will be extreme in there.

Yes. Looks like the ship is in tact. There was some damage to systems. Life support is offline.

Yes it is a ship. A small one, maybe just a bit bigger than this ship.

((Oh my goodness. I thought you meant our life support was offline, not the other ship.))

::Jyl:: Call in Athena. We're gonna have to take a closer look now.

::nods:: ::sends out the call to Athena with a very quick summary::

They're on their way.

::turns in her seat:: Now, we can't try tractoring that thing at the speeds we just did. Something would rip apart and that something would probably be us.

"Do we have a tracking probe we can attach?"

Let's work on a vector that gets us in range but still within Athena's tractor range. If things go wrong we can drop the target and have Athena pull us up.

::nods::

ACTION:: Athena warps into orbit above us.
