USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: (CO) Captain McFly, (XO) Kansas Kenickie

U.S.S. MANTICORE BRIEFING #1355 STARDATE 52603.16

Manticore has been sent to a planet just across the boarder of Cardassian space, where the Dominion are searching for the materials needed to make Ketracel White. The crew is hoping to find a key mineral in order for Starfleet to target the planets containing it and decimate their White supply. Manticore sent a science module down to begin testing for the correct mineral all while Starfleet Marines battled Jem'hadar on the other side of the planet. But they had eyes everywhere and spotted the away team quickly. Manticore intervened but got attacked by ships warping in. The marines came to aide but one of them mistook Faldek as the enemy and the two went flying over a cliff. After taking too much damage, Manticore was forced to retreat leaving the away team on the surface and still under attack. The engineering team was able to figure out the ship's propulsion issues and are now nearing DS9. Back on the planet, the Marine Commander sacrificed himself in order to bring down the last Jem'Hadar fighter. The away team are safe in the module but its power is nearly depleted and they don't know when Manticore will return. Bren has provided a plan to generate temporary power while EJ heads out for a more permanent solution. Meanwhile, Faldek spent too much time trying to convince the marine that he was not a spy. He then saved her from a stray Jem'Hadar attack so now she might finally be coming around. But on their way back they are met by a dying Jem'Hadar that Faldek takes prisoner. But, as they reach the summit towards the module, they hear weapons fire in the distance.

::she also looks at past scans they took of the planet before landing::

::looks at the prisoner, who seems to be grayer than normal, stops and checks for vital signs:: I think our prisoner may have expired from his abdominal wound.

I hope whoever we find has a spare phaser, I'm fresh out.

:: adjusts her scope....says a bajoran prayer.....aims and takes a shot at a Dominion soldier above ..who takes a hit in the arm ..causing him to spin and fall down the rocks below ::

::moves towards the weapons fire, making sure not to overexert himself due to the thin air::

But yeah, I'm looking at the scans of the flora this planet offers. I'm no arbourist, but these are some very interesting plants here.

I don't think we do in our current state. We took quite the beating. We've barely enough power to sustain the shields.

Two just below the broken Nacelle...They have zeroed in on our position....I wish I had a grenade launcher..

::holsters the phaser, grabs the grenade, backs up about 10 feet and pushes off with his legs, diving towards Mariner, Pilot and Danah and hits the button, throwing the grenade with a little extra heft at the nacelle:: (edited)

# THE GRENADE'S DELAY PEAKS THE INTERESTED OF A COUPLE OF JEM'HADAR WHO CHECK ON THE DEVICE TO SEE WHAT IT WAS THAT WAS THROWN; ONE OF THEM PICKS IT UP AND PUTS IT TO HIS EAR; HE CAN HEAR IT CHIRPING DOWN; HE LOOKS AT ONE OF HIS COMPANIONS CONFUSED AS TO WHAT WAS THROWN; HE TAKES IT OVER TO HIS SUPERIOR WHO PROMPTS SCOLDS HIM FOR PICKING UP A STANDARD ISSUE PHOTON GRENADE AND YELLS AT HIS TO THROW IT BACK; HE WINDS UP BUT AS HE DOES THE GRENADE DETONATES TAKING OUT AT LEAST FIVE JEM'HADAR WHO HAD ALL GATHERED AROUND; THE HULL OF THE SHIP TAKES A LITTLE SCOLDING AS THE BLAST TOUCHES IT BUT OVERALL LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE SHIP

I was lead to believe it was a mind controlling drug, I don't know of Jem'Haddars actually eat.

::Back at the module; he takes note of lights around the module dimming at each shot he takes on the shields; he starts to do it repeatedly and notes the pattern; he then begins fire regular shots at the shields of the module::

:: Takes the nearest TL to Engineering, tricorder in hand ::

You know what I'm getting tired of all this waiting. Give me some cover fire, I'm going down there.

Two samples of the same mineral tested with discrepancies. One sample has unusual amino acids present, very unusual ones, that can't have come from a mineral source.

I just got you back, I am coming with you.

Like I said. We became overwhelmed and are too badly damaged to put up a fight. But I can't leave my people to die.

Exactly why you should wait for back up to arrive and go at this more intelligently. What makes you think the Defiant wouldn't succumb to the same fate?

Your ship is built to fight. Mine is built to infiltrate. It can handle itself against Dominion fighters better than mine can. I've read the reports.
