USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: (CO) Captain McFly, (XO) Kansas Kenickie

U.S.S. MANTICORE BRIEFING #1320 STARDATE 52507.14

Manticore has been asked to investigate a spontaneous gaseous anomaly. Upon closer inspection, it appears the particle structure is quite complex raising the need for further study. However, many of the crew have suddenly become ill and the ship is malfunctioning. Chief Jaenke has discovered the cause of the malfunctions and it's the new bio-neural gel packs that are the culprit, having become sick just like the crew. Meanwhile, Doctor Tevek has realized the severity of the virus. But not only that, it seems to be targeting the crew! Most troubling of all, Commander Faliver has shown the virus to be man made. But hope has dawned as Lt. Cmdr Sorenson has discovered the cetacean crew are seemingly immune to the virus! With little time left, Sorenson has sent over the isolated genome sequence to Tevek in the hopes he's able to adapt a cure fit for humanoids. His first attempt failed but it had the pleasant side effect of curing the bio-neural gel packs. Soon after, Tevek was able to use the now functional computer to help synthesize a working cure for the crew. After eight hours of proper rest, the crew is back in an upright position. Faldek has retrieved the shuttles and a containment team has been called from Starbase REDACTED to destroy the synthetic nebula that started all this.

::hops between stations in the main Science lab, processing sensor readings and back to trying to make sense of the scans:

She is stable now, but she is recovering much more slowly than the other patients. She is still in a coma-like state. It is most...puzzling.

Honestly sir, I wouldn't trust the processing abilities of the inoculated gel paks. Their properties could of been altered by the vaccine. Performance could become an issue...

I admit, you can be resilient when you need to be. So I had to take you off the table to prevent you from getting in the way of my our, plans. And I know you still have a loose end out there, I'll take care of her. Nothing from Manticore will be left behind. But Kansas, if you are still there... This is personal. You didn't just get in my way, you humiliated me. I thought if anyone could understand what we're trying to do it would be you. But you turned out to be just another mindless Fed drone. You show blind loyalty to something that will never return it and in the end it will destroy you, just like it will destroy humanity if it's not stopped. If not the Borg then the Dominion.
