USS Excalibur - Sundays 10:30 ET - Command Staff: (CO) Cptn Swain, (XO) CdrMirandaHawthorne

MISSION BRIEF: Behind the mystery door was what appears to be an alien biology lab of some sort, but there is very little evidence as to what was being studied here or by whom. Also main power in the cache facility has gone out in a storm, and the power to the lab is also offline. Questions, comments, hot tips on horses?

Did we still have rooms to check?

ACTION> There is, another door at the end of the room. There are also some storage lockers. I've played enough starflield and bethesda rpgs to know there's probably some alien trash in them too.

Rex> Looking in the lockers Huh, they're empty. I really thought there'd be some ratty alien rations for Will to eat.

"Clean lockers would seem to indicate an orderly withdrawal."

"I think the builders of this facility expected to return."

Clark> Frowning, fidgeting with his hand lamp. We should probably try to restore power to the cache first. If Excalibur tries to contact us, we won't be able to recieve let alone send messages without the array.

"Perhaps security can finish sweeping the facility while the engineers work on restoring power?"

:: Scanning :: I am, not wanting to touch anything. :: pokes her scanner ::

Rex> Looks to Jalen

Jalen> Nods We can chew gum and walk I suppose. I am going to head back up stairs and see what I can find in the cache itself.

Rex> Alright, Jericho and I can stay down here and poke around.

Clark> Nods excitedly, very excited to get out of the spooky ass labratory

Wade puts action to words and heads over to open the next door.

"What do you think the odds are of this being the start of some endlessly descending warren of tunnels and rooms are?

William was looking around the lab. “We’re going back upstairs?”

Clark> All but grabs Will and begins heading out of the spooky lab and back towards the starfleet portion of the facility

Rex> Shining his light around 5 in 8

"Reasonable"

“Thank you Clark.”

ACTION> The next door does not have any visable panels like the last one. It is magnetically sealed, but made of essentially the same materials as the first one.

Clark> Look that place gave me the creeps.

ACTION> Dramatic thunder clap outside as the storm intensifies.

"At least we're out of the weather."

(Evening, all. Finally able to get in.

"Hmm, magnetically sealed, but we have no power here."

“It wasn’t too bad.”

"Assuming we want to proceed through the sealed door in the abandoned bunker lab?"

Clark> Looks at Will and shakes his head. Hopefully the generators aren't fried.

Rex> Frowns My tricorder can't penetrate the door to see what's behind it. You think they locked it for a reason?

“Same, but we could also take a crack at fixing them if they are.”

"It's possible. Why else seal a door in this way when it's already behind a sealed bunker door in the middle of nowhere?"

Clark> You think you can fix a hundred year old generator?

"Or they could have just been exercising an abundance of caution, or keeping an environmental seal. There's no way to know without more information."

“I think that we can.”

( I sent Jalen up to look around for nudie mags left by the star fleet creww, but feel free to go where ever )

Clark> Almost touched.

Rex> Well, no one ever accused Starfleet Security of being cautious.

"Aye sir. Step back please."

:: Looks at the door ::

Wade modulates his phaser rifle to rapidly heat the metal elements around the seal and destroy the magnet. He checks to make sure no one is too close, and then fires.

ACTION> The magnetic field disappates and the door can now be manually opened.

I think that worked.

"Careful, it's going to be hot for a while."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::poking around the cache upstairs, looking for anything of interest or odd.::

Wade leverages his borrowed leveraging device in and opens the door. (edited)

William comes ups with Clark “Alright, where’s the generators?”

ACTION> Jalen finds a whole stack of vintage "SEXY RIHAN MALE" that must have been left behind from a crewman who acquired them during the thaw in relations between the empires before the Tomed Incident. They certainly don't make'm like that anymore.

Clark> There's one in the communications building that I think can power the whole facility. Odd that both generators went out.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Hmmm. ::Wondering how badly Swain would want those mags.::

ACTION> The door slides open to another room of total darkness, but from the outlines the general 'vibe' is similar, but there are three doors in this room (one on either side) and three consoles.

$Swain> Feels a disturbance in the force.

"Good news sir. It's not full of crazed robots."

I can see well in the dark, but not this dark

Rex> Shines his light into the room. More analog consoles, huh.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::stashes a few in his bag for kicks and continues the search::

"It's an interesting level of technological development"

Wade glances over the consoles.

“Alright, to the communications building.” William starts to head that way.

Clark> Frowns Hope you don't mind getting a little wet. They didn't build a connection between them.

“That is most unfortunate.”

Clark> Maybe there's some ponchos in the cache?

Rex> You see anything looks like an on switch.

“There’s got to be something.” William starts rummaging around.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> I didn't see any ponchos, but there is a nice selection of dandy capes.

Wade thinks about what he's seen so far and examines the consoles for a button set off from the others, and then presses it.

“Well, I’m sure Clark will look great in it.”

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::holds up an animal print cape::

Clark> No no I couldn't. Besides you're a senior officer.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> There are two, so you can be matching.

ACTION> The button does turn on the machines, and some real classic flourescent lighting begins flickering on as well. The screens on all three consoles boot up as well. Mmm CRTs. Its all alien script of course, and bright green.

10:10 PM

Clark> Frowns and takes the cape, muttering.

Williams whips the cape on like an old pro. “Ready?”

"Hmm, parallels in analogue design."

10:12 PM

Wade starts recording samples of the script on his tricorder.

Clark> Mumbles Let's go.

"Ah, I believe I know what the rounded surface is for. They used to be common on Andorian consoles."

10:14 PM

Wade moves the trackball around to control the screen cursor

Rex> These aren't Andorian though. Not any Andorian I've ever seen.

"No sir, definitely not."

ACTION> The track ball zaps him.

William steps out into the rain, walking towards the communications building like someone in an old Victorian holonovel protagonist.

"Permission to treat the console as hostile, sir?"

Rex> Smirks That wouldn't be very logical would it.

Clark> follows, hoping he doesn't get struck by lightening

These are..technologies far older than I it seems.

(( ugh im gonna need to pop off early. Upped my ozempic dose and uh feeling it now

"Logic is just another tool. Like a hammer."

They came to the door, and William worked with Clark to open it up. “There we go.”
