USS Excalibur - Sundays 10:30 ET - Command Staff: (CO) Cptn Swain, (XO) CdrMirandaHawthorne

ACTION> The away team, held up by a solar storm and now a thunderstorm is exploring the bunker attached to the supply cache. They have found a Mystery Door made of relatively advanced alloys that was not mentioned anywhere in the logs of the original ship that setup the cache. Further the door controls are far more antiquated than even the ones left behind by the aforementioned crew.

Rex and Clark> Were in the living quarters of the bunker doing a catalog of what was there, finding it surprisingly well stocked with goods. There were even extra changes of clothing in various sizes, all vintage 2310s Starfleet of course.

Irene, frustrated with the console, kicks the mystery door. "Reveal your damn secrets already!"

ACTION> Her foot hurts.

Wade changes into a vintage uniform while he waits for the laundry to dry his uniform. He doesn't know this crew well enough to walk around in his underpants

William stepped back from the door after Mincine kicked it. “Well, percussive maintenance doesn’t seem to work.”

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::clomps down the basement stairs to check on the team:: Have that door open yet?

Are we able to find anything at all in the facility about the door or the species that put it here?

“Not as of yet.”

"I do not see a course of action available to us that does not involve interacting with the console or use of weapons."

Irene> Ignoring her sore foot as best she can, but still testy. "The keyboard's got a script we can't figure out and doesn't seem to be used anywhere else. We don't know if forcing it is going to set off any security measures."

(( security measures? like a cardassian program meant to kill you all? me? little ole me? ))

“We could always try something and see if it gives us some feedback.”

"If taking the safest course of action is the priority, then perhaps we should ignore it entirely and wait for the Excalibur's return."

"If not, then we will have to take risks at some point."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::pauses to stare at Wade, giving the vintage uniform a curious look. He shook his head.:: We could certainly do that, out it in a report, and leave it for the next ship to puzzle over.

Rex> Ambles down stairs with Clark in tow drinking water from a capri-sun lookalike pouch. How's the door. Looks ah. We could use a crowbar to force it open. Like you guys did the gate.

Irene> "I don't want to be the one who gets us all vaporized, that's all."

“Would it be ok if it was me?”

"Well, I'll volunteer. We can clear everyone but myself out of the corridor while I attempt to interact with it."

Rex> Looks to Jalen When did this bunch start thinking ahead?

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::wanders over to the console to have a look:: The computer couldn't puzzle this one out? No similar languages?

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::smirks at Rex:: Don't ask me. You would have tried to shoot it open by now.

Clark> Makes his way over. He was probably, by training, the closest thing to a linguist in the group he supposed.

Rex> Well, yes

Irene shakes her head to Stanton. "The Excalibur's not in orbit, so we don't have the full translator database available."

Clark> pops open the tricorder Huh, this is deffo not anything I've seen before. Tri-sylabbictechnobabble

William looks over the console again. “We thought about it, but Mincine’s right, we don’t have everything we need.”

Clark> It's analog thought right? Couldn't we just bypass the key entry?

:: moves towards Irene :: let me look at that foot.

“We probably could…I would need to find the wires.”

Clark> in the "things got a have a tailpipe voice Things gotta be able to be hotwired.

"That's an engineer's job, all right." She puts the foot she banged on the door out forward for the doctor.

Rex> Mildly impressed.

Wade looks down at the keyboard, and runs his hands along the side, feeling for a seam

:: scans :: Not a lot of damage... something for the pain. :: hypos ::

William pulls out his tricorder and starts scanning for where the wires come to the console.

Irene lets out a sigh of relief. "That's better, thanks."

"And just grip, PULL, and twist."

Rex> Looks over to Wade, They don't make pants like that anymore. Shame.

"I prefer the flexibility of the modern uniform, but these are pleasantly warm."

Does not mean it's healed.

Wade gently tosses the keyboard casing to the ground. "Let's see what we're working with here.

“Ooh, good job Wade.” *William starts looking at the wires to see what goes where.”

ACTION> Luckily nothing bad happens!

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::crosses his arms, watching them work::

"I'll try to avoid kicking any more doors." She says as she deftly dodges a flying keyboard casing. "Hey!"

"Apologies"

Rex> Smirks

Clark> Picks up the keyboard and begins pressing buttons to hear it click I always liked analog keyboards.

Clark> I had a mechanical keyboard on my personal unit at the academy.

“Keyboards can be fun.” William takes two of the wires, unplugs them, and then swaps them.

Wade is checking the amount of power running through the wires. "I prefer having my body free to do other things"

William looks at the door some more before taking three wires and cross braiding them.

Irene> "Physical keys? Now I know you're all nuts."

Clark> It's a tactile thing. Sure modern LCARS does hepatic feedback, but there's something about the touch, the feel, the plastic buttons.

“Alright, everyone stand back. I’m about to do Engineering.” William takes a final set of five wires, rearranging them in the various pins where they go and steps back, looking to see what happens.

ACTION> The door slides open. The otherside of the room is pitch black except for what little light is coming from the hallway the crew is in. Ooooo spoooookkkyyyyyy.

Rex> Well that's a bit anti-climactic.

Clark> Had honestly expected will to shock himself.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Unless we've just unleashed some ancient bacteria.

“Who has the flashlights?”

ACTION> From the doorway the standard issue starfleet flashlight doesn't do much.

Irene has one strapped to her wrist already, which she makes sure to shine directly into the camera as she slow pans it across the black hall.

ACTION> Even in the basement the crew can hear a loud thundercrack that rolls through the entire complex. Everything goes dark as the generators go off.

“Uh oh.”

Rex> Turns his handlamp on Lovely.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::turns on his own light and shines it at the crew.:: Everyone still here?

"I am"

Clark> Frowning Probably a lightening stike on the generators.

“This time it isn’t my fault.” William turns on his on flashlight.

Rex> Moves towards the door to get a better look

William joins Rex, pointing his flashlight into the room

Irene> "Still here. Still can't see anything."

"Here" Wade hands Irene his spare headlamp

ACTION> The room appears to be relatively long, though not much higher than a normal room. A real shame none of us have Nightvision in this party. Wade/Will can see the outline of what looks like maybe a table or a console a few meters in.

I see a table.

(this cleric doesn't have night vision)

"I concur"

(( Wade and I were/are in an table top group where literally all of us have nightvision, routinely foiling the dm ))

Wade makes a mental note to add night vision equipment to his field kit

She puts on the headlamp. "Okay, that's a little better."

((DM: You come into a dark cave. Party: “I have dark vision.”))

Rex> Squints. Hmm

Rex> Looks over to Jalen Think we should check it out, sir?

((pretty much, yeah)

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Go for it. ::waves a hand to the dark.:: Anyone see anything else of interest?

“Only the table.”

Wade advances into the room, trying to figure out the dimensions

(( oh right gnomes. tbf kavion does not really think there's a difference ))

"I'll keep you covered while you check the console, Lieutenant"

Rex> Moves into the room first. If anyone was going to get shot it might as well be him.

ACTION> As Rex does this he shines his light deeper into the room. Its clear there are several, many actually, tables in the center of the room. Shining his light to the walls, it outlines the figure of what appears to be several tanks of something, fluid.

William follows closely behind him. “Oh Lord.”

Rex> That bodes well.

"Congratulations, you've found a murder dungeon."

"It's going to be one of those facilties."

Rex> I think we both win.

nods "The only thing worse than outpost scientist facilities are other civilizations outpost scientist facilities."

ACTION> The tables are, thankfully, empty. And spotless. No gross bloody corpses here folks! If someone wants to go look at one of the tanks, they're filled with an opaque liquid that mildly reflects the lights of the handlamps, but are seemingly empty.

Any other doors?

William approaches one of the tanks. “Looks empty to me.”

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Any bodies? Experiments? Mutants?

tricorders out

William pulls out his own tricorder and starts scanning the tube he’s in front of.

ACTION> There is, another door at the end of the room. There are also some storage lockers. I've played enough starflield and bethesda rpgs to know there's probably some alien trash in them too.

Clark> This place probably has its own power systems, yeah?

Rex> Unholsters his phaser. At least they didn't leave a mess.

“You’d think so, but where’s the power?”

"We don't know how long this facility has been dormant."

"They could simply be non-functional. Though that seems unlikely considering the general condition."

Irene's going all over with her tricorder scanning everything she sees. "Weird-ass alien biology lab... power supply's probably somewhere weird, too."

Rex> You think the Santiago crew found this door and were just like "you know what, no. there's probabyl weird here"

Wade checks the lockers.

"I bet they did exactly what we did."

“But we’re going to put it in the report…no?”

"I don't see why we wouldn't. Or why they wouldn't"
