USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: (CO) Captain McFly, (XO) Kansas Kenickie

U.S.S. MANTICORE BRIEFING #1316 STARDATE 52504.07

Manticore has been sent to a classified planet where a cult fascinated with the Borg have been exiled. The crew is to investigate possible comm activity by the group who have been forbidden from contacting anyone on the outside. Upon arrival science detected what appeared to be the comm array. A third team was sent down to investigate while the others proceeded to the village. What they found was a busted up comm array that did very little. But when they left they fell into a trap and were all taken unconscious and their shuttle stolen. The perpetrators attempted to take the shuttle back to the village but Commander Faliver shot down the shuttle and retrieved the crew members before destroying it. Meanwhile, Doctor Tevek cured an infection of a young child that should have been preventable. The team took a tour of Doctor Gerald Ryan's medical lab to see how sparse and outdated it really was. Suddenly, everyone in the village could hear an explosion very nearby.

::switches her hand to a hypospray like device and injects Kansas while her attention is turned to McFly::

::drags Tevek inside:: The starfleet ship shot down the shuttle from orbit. The whole team is dead. Alec wants us to speed up the process.

::takes a deep breath; helps bring Erich's body into the med lab::

::She clutches her child close as she watched the three men take the Starfleet officers into the med lab::

::taps on the tricorder, taking vitals again of Pilot, Harnett, and Sorenson:: (edited)

# KRIGE AND THOMPSON BEGIN PERFORMING RUDIMENTARY SURGERY ON McFLY AND KANSAS HEADS; THEY PULL AWAY A PIECE OF SKULL TO ACCESS THE BRAIN; THEY EACH HOLD ONE OF THE DEVICES KRIGE SHOWED OFF TO McFLY EARLIER AND BEGIN IMPLATING THEM INSIDE THE HEADS OF McFLY AND KANSAS

::still lying on the biobed as her eyes readjust to the lights::

::shakes his head a couple times and tries to sit up::

Damnit! Paul, get one of the hypos and sedate him before he attacks us

::thinking, looks over to Harnett:: Lieutenant Harnett!

::takes the hypo and puts it Faldek's neck; before he presses the button he whispers in Faldek's ear "I'm sorry"::

# KRIGE AND THOMPSON FINISH UP; THOMPSON CHECKS THEIR STATUS WHILE KRIGE MOVES OVER TOWARDS A COMPUTER TERMINAL

I do want to do that. I would like to take a heavily armed team down by Shuttle. There will be a pilot who will stay on board and shoot any intruders that come near the shuttle this time.

I approve of this. Take a full shuttlecraft worth of people, extra security team folks if you have extra seats. Better they be bored than unnecessary

::looks over at Del Marco as he activates the neural devices; waits to see how he reacts to it::

I will do my best to not "crash out" but at this point, our staff is top priority.

::picks up his ubiquitous PADD and writes a note to Adm. Joffrey requesting she line up some experts on borg technology for consultation, starts pre-compiling relevant materials from major science databases, and then starts pacing again::

Alright, so some of this stuff got rushed tonight, there is some stuff I hadn't anticipated moving on so quickly.

Interesting goings on..

Just to clarify things for those out of the loop. So the away team made up of Tevek, Erich, Faldek, KK and McFly have been implanted with a neural comm device created by Krige. This device is only good for two way communication between connected devices. Each of the named NPC's we've seen (minus Iris I suppose) has been paired with one of our main characters. Krige with McFly, Thompson with KK, Del Marco with Faldek, Dr Gerald Ryan with Tevek and Paul Boehmer with Erich. Because our heroes are sedated, the bad guys have full read access to their brains which gives them all the knowledge and memories of the person they're connected. Maybe even some dreams spill over, who knows.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up as to what's going on. Remember, though, your characters don't know anything about what's happeneing on the planet and of what's become of the away team. So play accordingly.
